ASDA security guard finds customer's £40k Rolex watch and goes viral for what he did with it

A man who works as a checkout worker at ASDA has gone viral after his response to finding a shopper's expensive Rolex watch was shared on the internet. Shoppers have had a strong reaction to his actions after finding the watch.

ASDA explained how a grateful customer thanked Pete from our Asda Living Wrekin Park store in Telford for his honesty after finding his 60-year-old Rolex watch and keeping it safe for him after he lost it at the checkouts.

Hayley, the store's replenishment manager, said: "Pete was looking at his monitors and spotted something shiny on the floor by the checkouts – and it turned out to be a Rolex watch. The gentleman later phoned the store to ask if anyone had handed it in and when Pete told him that he'd found it the gentleman became emotional and couldn't believe it.

"He'd been distraught as the watch held so many special memories for him and he had been given it over 60 years ago. He came into store to pick it up and was so thankful to Pete as he thought it had been lost forever." Pete has now been nominated for an Asda service superstar award, with Hayley saying: "Pete is a very kind-hearted colleague, who is very old-school. He will do anything for customers and colleagues."

Shoppers have now rushed to praise Pete. Joyce Rogers-Keen said: "God Bless you for being so honest and caring man hope you have a wonderful happy life people like you are few and far these days you made the gentleman a very happy man it meant so much to him." Helen Dulson wrote: "So fantastic to hear such a wonderful story, I hope he was rewarded for his kindness. Well done , it makes you have faith that there are some good people about."
