Asda's 72 hour warning which will impact every shopper in the UK
Asda has sent a warning to all of its UK shoppers.
From September 1, the supermarket giant will introduce its latest update in its stores. Asda will be scrapping 'best before' dates from 250 fruit and veg items.
Catherine David, director of collaboration and change at Wrap, said: “We are delighted by this development from Asda to help tackle food waste in our homes. Our research has shown that date labels on fruit and veg are unnecessary – getting rid of them can prevent the equivalent of seven million shopping baskets’ worth from our household bins.
“The influence of no date label or the right date label on what we use and what we throw away is huge. More supermarkets need to get ahead on food waste by axing date labels from fresh produce, allowing people to use their own judgement.”

Machete 'swung at' man in town centre before police swoop
CCTV operatives witnessed a man "swinging a machete" towards another man.
Merseyside Police were called to St Helens town centre at around 11.30pm on Saturday night after the operatives reported the incident. Officers detained a man at the scene.
As of Sunday, August 28, the man was in custody and awaiting interview after being arrested for possession of an offensive weapon, affray and causing intentional harassment, alarm and distress.

Merseyside pub in the running to be crowned CAMRA Pub of the Year
A Merseyside pub could be crowned CAMRA's Pub of the Year 2022.
The awards recognises the best pubs, clubs, beers and cider across the UK, with New Brighton's own The Magazine Hotel in the top 16. The pub will be up against other 15 regional finalists for the chance to bag the National Pub of the Year crown, which is the highest accolade bestowed on the country's pubs.
Andrea Briers, national coordinator for the Pub of the Year competition, said: "This is an incredibly difficult time for many of our beloved pubs as they jump from one crisis to yet another one. The fact that we're still seeing such shining examples of pub excellence despite these challenges is incredible, and a real testament to these winners."
