Asda recalls mince pies due to concerns over plastic pieces

A popular supermarket is recalling its mince pies after concerns they could be contaminated with pieces of plastic. Asda has recalled three of its festive mince pie products, warning that may be unsafe to eat.

The products effected include:

Extra Special 4 Apple & Pecan Crumble Mince Pies - Pack size: 4 pack. Best before: All dates up to and including December 13, 2022.

Extra Special 4 Crumble Top Mince Pies - Pack size: 4 pack. Best before: All dates up to and including December 13, 2022.

The Food Standards Agency said: "If you have purchased any of the above products do not eat them, please return it to your nearest store where you will be given a full refund. You do not need your receipt.

Nestle UK is recalling its Aero hot chocolate products after concerns that a small number of packs may be unsafe to eat as they contain small pieces of food-grade silica beads. Sainsbury's, Tesco and B&M sell these products, which include:

AERO Hot Choc jars - Pack size: 288g. Batch code: All batch codes. Best before: All date codes.

AERO ‘Hot Choc’ sachets - Pack size: 24g. Batch code: All batch codes. Best before: All date codes.

AERO GO Instant ‘Hot Choc’ - Pack size: 28g. Batch code: All batch codes. Best before: All date codes.

The FSA has warned people not to eat/drink any of the above products if they have bought them. They state: "Instead, dispose of the contents and send the lid of the jar, the empty sachet or the sleeve of the cups (cardboard of plastic 8-sleeve) with your name and address for a full refund to AERO Hot Chocolate Recall, PO BOX 205, Freepost 1374, York, YO91 1XB.

"Consumers with any concerns can call Nestlé UK free on 00800 63785385." Aldi is also having to recall a product, after it was found that Gianni’s Milk Chocolate Lollies may contain almonds, and nuts are not highlighted on the label.

The packaging label means that only some packs were incorrectly packed with the almond lollies instead. Only a few Aldi stores in the Midlands have been affected by the product, which is:

Gianni’s Milk Chocolate Lollies - Pack size: 4 pack. Best before: September 2024.

The FSA has warned people who have bought the product and have an allergy not to eat the product and to instead return it for a refund.

Iceland Foods is recalling its Iceland Takeaway Pilau Rice because it contains egg, sesame, soya and wheat, which are not mentioned on the label. The product has been incorrectly packaged with egg fried rice, and poses a possible health risk to anyone who is allergic or has an intolerance to egg, wheat, sesame and/or soya.

The affected product is: Iceland Takeaway Pilau Rice - Pack size: 350g. Best before: January 10, 2024.

The FSA stated: "If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to egg and/or wheat (gluten) and/or an allergy to sesame and/or soya do not eat it. Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.
