Asda has issued a recall notice over one of its drink products, with best-before dates of January to May, due to contamination fears.
The children's lunchbox staple item, known as Asda brand multi-pack juice drinks, has been removed from shelves due to a potential presence of "metal chemicals in straws".
The supermarket chain has urged customers who purchased its 150ml juice boxes from the multi-pack to return them to their nearest stores for full refunds.
The Food Standards Agency, which is responsible for protecting public health in relation to food in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, said: "Refresco Beverages UK Limited is recalling various juice drinks because the straws may be contaminated with metal, making them unsafe."
Precautionary recalls will typically have barcodes handed out alongside them so people can identify the product they bought. Those in receipt of juice-box products have been advised to look for the following products and barcodes:

Urgent recalls such as this one should not be ignored with the potential risk they may pose to health and safety. One of Asda's most recent recalls was made in December for Asda Baked Beans 210g (best before November 2025 and with batch codes reading 3313 or 3314 only). The issue with the canned food item was announced alongside Asda Mixed Bean Salad 400g (best before November 2027 and with batch codes reading 3293 or 3303 only). Both were recalled "due to the possible presence of small rubber balls, approximately 2.5cm in diameter. These balls are a potential choking hazard," the supermarket chain said.Affected customers in the UK for any of these products can can call Asda on 0800 952 0101.
