Asda opening times for King Charles III Coronation: When will shops open this weekend?

There are three bank holidays in May this year with the next one being next Monday - this means supermarket opening times may change to represent the national holiday.

King Charles III will officially be crowned King this Saturday (May 6) and the country is preparing for a long weekend to remember.

To celebrate this historic event, there has been an extra bank holiday added in May which will be on Monday (May 8).

When there is a bank holiday, supermarkets usually adjust their opening times and Asda has confirmed that its opening times will be changed next Monday.

Asda has more than 600 stores across the UK and the opening times will vary across the country.

You should always check your local Asda store opening times on the supermarket's online checker tool before heading down.

Asda opening times over King Charles III coronation weekend

Asda has told the Mirror that its stores will operate as normal over the weekend and the only change will be seen on the bank holiday Monday.

On the actual day of the Coronation on Saturday, the bigger Asda stores open between 6am and 7am and close at around 10pm - this usually includes the stores open until midnight and its 24 hour stores.

This is due to Sunday trading laws, and the stores will open back up again for six hours on Sunday.

On Sunday (May 7) most Asda superstores will open from either 10am or 11am, until 4pm or 5pm.

On the bank holiday, the majority of Asda stores will be opening from 7am to 8pm.

From Tuesday (May 9), Asda stores will return to their normal opening hours.

It should be noted that all Scottish Asda stores will run under normal trading hours on the Bank Holiday Monday.

Asda staff have been offered the chance to have the day off on the day of the King's Coronation - but only if they volunteer instead on this day.

Hourly paid Asda staff who are scheduled to work on the May 8 bank holiday can request a paid day off to participate in the Big Help Out.

The Big Help Out campaign is a national day of volunteering to mark the Coronation, with over 1,500 charities supporting the scheme.

Any Asda staff who want to volunteer can request to book the day off and it will not affect their normal holiday entitlement.

Staff who are working the Bank Holiday after the King's Coronation will receive double pay for their shift.
