Children and pensioners can eat at Asda for £1 after the supermarket extended its meal deals.

Unlike many similar schemes which require a minimum spend, adults don't have to spend a penny.

Depending on which café you visit, children 16 or under can either get a hot meal - choosing from the likes of fish fingers, chips and peas; chicken nuggets, chips and beans; a breakfast, mac and cheese, or pancakes - or a cold pick and mix, which you can either eat in or take away - something we sampled for ourselves last summer.
Over 60s will also be able to continue enjoying hot soup, a roll and unlimited tea and coffee in Asda cafes, again until the end of March, and the supermarket has also extended its Blue Light discount, giving emergency workers 10% off.
Mohsin Issa, Asda’s co-owner said: “We know that as families head into the new year, the pressures on household budgets will continue – but we remain as committed as ever to supporting our customers tackle tough times.
"Our cafe initiatives have already proven a lifeline for over a million customers since we launched them last year, and we hope to support many thousands more into 2023, alongside our ongoing support for emergency workers and our valued colleagues.”
