Asda extends Blue Light Card discount for emergency workers - full list of who's eligible

Asda has confirmed it will extend its discount offer for Blue Light Card holders until at least next Spring in a show of support to frontline workers.

The supermarket currently offers 10% off to emergency service workers who have a Blue Light Card in a scheme that will now be continued until at least March 31, 2023. Asda said that they were extending the discount to acknowledge the "amazing work" that emergency service staff do each day to keep others safe.

The offer is available in all 635 Asda stores across the UK and applies to food and drink as well as George at Asda's clothing range and homeware, toys and gifts. Blue Light Card holders simply have to present their own valid card at the checkout to receive their 10% discount off their shopping.

Among the workers who qualify for a Blue Light Card are members of the Armed Forces, police, NHS workers, and social care workers, offering them discounts from hundreds of popular high street retailers. The card costs £4.99 for two years - you can find out more about the scheme on the Blue Light Card website.

Mohsin Issa, Asda’s co-owner, said: "We are delighted to have extended our partnership with the Blue Light Card into its third year until the end of March 2023. Our emergency services personnel do an incredible job and we’re happy to be able to continue this discount, along with our own Asda Rewards loyalty scheme and our everyday low prices, into the new year."

Tom Dalby, CEO at Blue Light Card, said: "We’re incredibly proud of our partnership with ASDA and understand how much it means to our members, especially at this time of year. The exclusive 10% discount across food and soft drinks, George clothing and homeware, toys, gifts and optical helps to support families and individuals across the UK during what is a tough period for many and really highlights ASDA’s appreciation of NHS staff and other frontline workers."
