Scots Asda customer rushed to hospital after seizure as kind worker takes his pet dog home

Scots Asda staff have been praised for taking care of a customer who collapsed - with one employee even taking his pet dog home while he was in hospital.

The man had popped into the Tain branch to pick up dog treats while spending a few days with his pet dog Frank in the Ross-shire town. The customer suffered a seizure and collapsed before drifting in and out of consciousness.

First-aiders Sharon Noble, Allison Howsley and a customer who was an off-duty nurse sprang into action and made him comfortable until paramedics arrived.

Store Manager Margo Gurney explained: "The gentleman had just travelled to stay in the area for a few days had just popped in to our store for some dog treats when he took ill.

"It was some kind of seizure, which he'd not had before.

"An ambulance was called and Sharon and Alison together with a customer who was a nurse made him comfortable and got him a blanket and something for his head to rest on until the paramedics arrived."

After the man was rushed to hospital, staff member Margo noticed his dog had been left in the car with the window slightly open.

She decided to give the pet a home for the night, and took him to her house to play with Fergie, her West Highland Terrier.

She said: "Frank the dog obviously couldn't go to hospital and there was no other family to look after him so I took him home.

"He was lovely and got on well with my Fergie."

The customer's step-daughter, who lives almost four hours drive away in Stirling, picked Frank up later that night.

Margo added: "The gentleman's wife, who was travelling up to Tain separately from her husband as she'd been working, called into our store the next day to thank us all.

"We are just happy that he's now recovered."
