Asda announces UK locations where big stores will be closing

Asda is preparing to close huge furniture stores in the coming months. The major supermarket will be closing a pair of Asda Living Stores this summer which have been "running at a loss for a number of years."

The branch on Island Green Retail Park, Wrexham, will be closing on Monday, July 31, and the outlet on Eastgate Retail Park, Bristol, will also be closing, reports Birmingham Live. A spokesperson for Asda stated: "Unfortunately, following a period of consultation, we have decided to close the stores.

"We recognise this will be a difficult time for colleagues at the store and we are in discussions with all of them to support them through this process, we will do all we can to find alternate roles in other local stores." The closure of the Wrexham branch means that 20 jobs are under threat.

There are 33 Asda Living stores across the UK, which offer clothing, homeware and entertainment goods, kitchenware and furnishings and electronics.

The closure of the Wrexham branch means that 20 jobs are under threat. On its website, the supermarket giant says: "Asda Living stores bring you fashionable clothing, latest homeware and great value entertainment goods you’ve come to expect from George and Asda all under one roof.

"We’ve a large range of kitchenware, exciting home furnishings and electronics – so you can be sure to find what you’re looking for, whether that’s a new vase, a soft rug or the latest tech for your living room. In our Asda Living stores, you will also find a range of health and beauty products including toiletries."

It continues: "Seasonal items such as our range of garden products are also available. With good parking facilities at our 33 stores, your visit will be quick, easy and stress free. Our cafés have a range of refreshments to help you relax and recharge, helping you make the most from your visit.

"Asda Living is a relaxing shopping experience, getting what your home needs without stepping outside of the store once."
