ASDA and Iceland shoppers go wild for pasta that cooks in 30-seconds flat with barely any electricity

People who shop at ASDA and Iceland are going wild for a new type of pasta that cooks in 30 seconds flat and uses barely any electricity. The frozen pasta has been hailed a 'godsend' by some, while others say it's just plain 'lazy'.

Beroni pasta comes in two different shapes - penne and fusilli - and promises to cook in just 30 seconds. To cook it, you just need to blast it in the microwave for half a minute - which saves a considerable amount of energy compared to boiling a kettle and putting on a hob for ten minutes.

The new pasta, which costs £2.50 in Iceland and £2 in ASDA, was shared on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains Facebook page. It's caused a bit of a row (seemingly as with most things these days).

The pasta has divided shoppers. While some claim it's 'lazy', others say it's a life saver, and could save them a considerable amount of money when it comes to energy.

Emma Udofia slammed: "How busy do you have to be to not have the 10 minutes available to cook pasta." Emma Johnson said: "I’d rather pay like 29p for a bag of cheap pasta and stand by the hob and boil it myself…microwave pasta."

Kat Parry criticised: "But it's only 29p for a big bag that feeds a family of 4 and takes under 10 mins to boil. We all have busy lives but is anyone to busy to boil pasta for 7 mins?"

However, the pasta was heaped with praise by some shoppers. Lucinda Bella said: "This is such a good idea for young teens coming home from school who are hungry but whose parents don't want them cooking or using the hob till they get home from work. This also helps elderly people who may not be able to use a hob anymore for safety reason, including burns. Some of ya'll don't think outside the box."

Michelle Masters said: "Thanks for posting these are great.. I was thinking of going in a pod and my daughter only eats pasta. A lot of pods don't have hobs just microwaves. So this is great to know." Amelia Reakes wrote: "If I had a penny for all the ignorant “so lazy” type comments that you see on these types of posts I’d be so rich!

"You don’t have to justify who these products are for but they are helpful for those with disabilities, the elderly and or anybody who wants to eat pasta in 30 seconds!! Leave everyone be."

Jen Russon said: "Good idea I think, especially as its so expensive to turn the cooker on." Tracey Forster agreed: "Saves on your fuel costs."

Hayley Bouch said: "Good for if you do long shifts at work and only have a microwave to use." Peter Young added: "These are appearing in asda too."

You can buy Beroni 30 second pasta for £2.50 in Iceland and £2 in ASDA now.
