After winning Friday's NASCAR Truck Series race at Homestead, Kyle Larson set his sights on the Xfinity race in his quest to become just the second driver to ever achieve a weekend sweep [after Kyle Busch at Bristol]. In the Truck race, he had to fight back from a late-race spin to claim the victory, but there were no such setbacks for most of the Xfinity race.
Larson looked unstoppable, dominating most of the event. After the final round of green-flag pit stops, he just drove away from the rest of the field. Lapping up to sixth place, Larson pulled out to a stunning 16+ second advantage over his closest competition.
But with less than 10 laps to go, a spin by Taylor Gray set up a sprint to the finish. Larson had the lead for the final overtime restart. Unfortunately for Larson, his strategy to go late in the restart zone backfired as Sam Mayer [who was directly behind him] went a moment too soon. Larson spun the tires while being shoved from behind, allowing the outside lane to surge ahead.

Austin Hill took the lead before Justin Allgaier fought his way around him, claiming the win for the JR Motorsports. The reigning NASCAR Xfinity Series champion becomes the first multi-time winner of the 2025 season.
"Just a testament to this team," said Allgaier after earning his 27th career win. "Today is one of those days that wasn't our day. We got behind but we were able to persevere ... it's special. If there's anywhere I could win, it would be here because I just feel like this place has got me so many times."
This was Allgaier's 17th Xfinity race at Homestead-Miami Speedway, but his first victory there.
"He slammed the s*** out of me"
Mayer ended up finishing second, Hill third, a frustrated Larson was fourth, and Sheldon Creed finished fifth. Jesse Love, Brandon Jones, Nick Sanchez, Daniel Dye, and Carson Kvapil rounded out the top ten.
Larson walked 'The CW' through that critical restart, saying: "I've lived through it (disappointment) a number of times here but obviously, a bummer again. To have another Homestead race play out that way ... But yeah, I can't go when my rear tires are off the ground. I know it looks like I choked another one away but I did everything I thought I could, and the #41 [Mayer] just lagged back and slammed the s*** out of me."
Mayer gave his own perspective, taking some responsibility: "I just mistimed it unfortunately. Got to his bumper a little too quickly. He went really, really late in the box, just playing games. That's what you got to do to get the advantage, but he just waited really long and I wasn't ready for him to wait that long. I was giddy to get going."
Kyle Busch remains the only driver to have successfully completed the weekend sweep, winning the Cup, Xfinity and Truck races at Bristol Motor Speedway in both 2010 and 2017.
