New Delhi: Supreme Court on Friday granted interim bail to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal till June 1 in Delhi Excise policy case.
After the expiry of bail, Kejriwal is required to surrender in a court on June 2.
In his first reaction after the bail to Arvind Kejriwal, Senior Advocate and Kejriwal’s counsel Dr Abhishek Manu Singhvi has posted on ‘X’:
1. I received lots of media requests to speak on Kejriwal’s interim bail.
2. But, since 2000 when I became spokesperson, I have not mixed cases I appear in court and speak about outside politically while hearing is going on.
3. Hence, I express my regret to media for now. I will give some perspectives a little later when the dust settles down.
4. It is the strength of our democracy that the person is out on bail within 6 weeks with 21 electioneering days left.
5. It happened despite the heaviest legal artillery rolled out by Govt.
6. Therefore, we must go on fighting and never lose faith.
7. The assistance of Vivek Jain was invaluable and matchless.
