Fiilm actress and host of the popular TV show Phool Khile Hain Gulshan Gulshan, Tabassum passed away on November 19 due to a cardiac arrest. The actress was married to Vijay Govil, elder brother of actor Arun Govil.
BT spoke exclusively to Arun Govil about Tabassum and he shared how his journey in showbiz started from her home because he lived with them for many years. Govil said, "It's one of the saddest things to have happened. She was my dearest family member... warm, loving, smiling, compassionate and a gracious woman. When I relocated from Meerut to Mumbai, I lived with my brother and her for many years since I was a newcomer and trying to make a career in Bollywood. I used to accompany her to the sets of Phool Khile Hain Gulshan Gulshan at the Doordarshan studio. I used to watch her take interviews and have also seen her work very hard for years. I used to accompany her to Ameen Sayani's studio too for her radio recordings with Ameenji, which was located near Regal Cinema. It was a great experience to see her do so much of interesting work. I don't recall any particular interview but the show was very successful because she had interviewed all film stars on the show."
Govil shared how his brother had a love marriage with the late actress. He said, "Her first name was Kiran and she got the name Tabassum when she started working as a child actor. She was also fond of eating and cooking different varieties of food and my wife and I have beautiful memories of spending our birthdays, wedding anniversaries together. She used to also write well and I will always remember her as a warm-hearted, smiling woman."
