The star of the Cannes Film Festival today is the Paris Olympics. Sports personalities and athletes are here for the premiere of Mickaël Gamrasni’s documentary "Olympiques ! La France des Jeux", in which three generations of French athletes explain why the country has such a special relationship with the Games. And on the red carpet for the event this evening will be a prestigious guest – the Olympic flame.
One of the athletes on the red carpet is fencing world champion and Paralympic medallist Beatrice "Bebe" Vio. The 25-year-old Venice native has just become the newest face of the L'Oréal Paris brand.
Vio told FRANCE 24's Eve Jackson that she plans to use the global platform to spotlight the strength of people with disabilities, as well as to empower women across generations. The athlete contracted acute meningitis at the age of 11 and lost her limbs.
Also on the programme, Cate Blanchett discusses her new film "Rumours".
