Labour Party Arts spokesperson Marie Sherlock has slammed the lack of artist space in Dublin as a dozen face eviction from Richmond Road Studios in Fairview.
Maeve Brennan, who has been a studio member for 17 years, told Dublin Live that they were sent a letter from the receivers informing them that they had to vacate the premises within two weeks, but no locks had been changed as of Thursday, April 7.
The group of artists who use the space said that Dublin has been "plundered of its creative spaces for years" and have launched a petition to Dublin City Council to give the them more time to find an alternative space.

"We want to stay, and have nowhere else to go," writes Maeve.
Speaking in the Seanad, Senator Sherlock said of the studio: "They are an amazing set of artists engaged in visual art, photography, painting, installation work and other art forms.
"They received a letter two weeks ago to say that the building of which they are tenants is in receivership and they will be kicked out. I want to make a direct appeal to the receivers, Kroll, to engage with the tenants."
She added: "We have seen a continual hollowing out of arts space. The Government needs to put in place finance and other resources to ensure that arts groups can survive and thrive in this city and country."
Dublin Live contacted the receiver for comment.
