Artist impression reveals what Nottingham Beach will look like for 2019 - and it's nothing like previous years

Nottingham's urban beach will be back for 2019 but not as visitors have come to expect it.

Organisers Mellors Group have upped their game considerably this year with pool pods and day beds making their debut at Slab Square's first ever Playa Day Club and Restaurant, part of the annual pop-up's residency this summer.

If you are finding it hard to imagine what a VIP beach club would look like in the middle of Old Market Square, do not fear, a new artist impression has revealed what to expect from City-by-the-Sea's newest attraction (see below).

Pool pods can be hired for £240 (for up to eight people) and day beds for £180 (for up to six people) at playadayclub.co.uk. The cost is redeemable against drinks once on site.

Resembling a loft-style building, day beds line one wall of the club, wicker sofas on the other and pool pods sit in the middle. Located in the right-hand side of the venue is the much-anticipated pop-up restaurant headed up by MasterChef: The Professionals winner Laurence Henry.

The stylish restaurant at Playa Day Club will have just 20 indoor and outdoor seats and is being marketed as the perfect location for businesses to entertain clients and guests, and as the ‘go-to’ venue for city workers to gather for after-work drinks and sharing platters.

The club will open on Friday, July 12 for six weeks, every day from 10am. A dress to impress code will apply.

Keeping to beach club traditions, special brunch events will be taking place on various Sundays throughout the summer:  July 14, August 4 and August 25.

The company behind the new concept for the city is the Mellors Group in partnership with club promotions ACES Events, who have hosted parties at some of the most prestigious venues around the globe and will be organising the live entertainment for the club. This will include a programme of DJ performances late afternoon and into the evening every Saturday.

But don't worry, there still will be plenty of old fashioned fun too. Rides have yet to be confirmed but in previous years attractions have included a reverse bungee, high ropes course, foot pool, crazy wave, sand dune racer, water balls, bungee trampolines, F1 car ride, hook-a-duck and comedy photobooth.

Also back will be the beach's movie nights, variety hosted by JustBen, live music and the beach volley ball tournament.

Saturday, July 13 to Sunday, September 1

Monday - Thursday: 10am – 11pm

Fridays and Saturdays: 10am – 11.30pm.

Sundays: 10am - 10pm
