Artist brings her atmospheric exploration of Irish coastlines to West Belfast cultural centre

An exciting new art exhibition housing an atmospheric look into Irish landscapes is coming to West Belfast this week.

Art lovers will be in for a treat with the launch of Clare-based creative Tiffani Love's latest work at the Cultúrlann McAdam Ó Fiaich this Thursday, February 2.

The Falls Road cultural centre will house her work in the Ballaí Bána Gallery until March 16.

Love is an American-born artist who lives in the west of Ireland and works in Barton Studios in Galway.

The recipient of an Agility Award from the Arts Council of Ireland and the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant in 2022, Love's work has featured in galleries around the world.

Traversing her local coastline along the illusive shores of the Atlantic in Clare and Galway, and the terrains found inland along rivers, streams, turloughs and lakes, her stunning oil paintings navigate the spaces where water, earth and atmosphere meld.

Tiffani said: "The terrain of the Irish landscape is complex and layered, both geologically and historically.

"My artistic practice allows me to visually preserve, yet metaphorically peel back the many layers of the landscape, exposing the history and personality of spaces through the act of painting on canvas."

Within the same cultural centre in the Dillon Gallery the stunning work of Elizabeth Bleynat will also be on show and launched on the night.

Bleynat’s practice is dedicated to the conservation and stewardship of the Irish coast, she collects colourful marine plastics on her regular shore walks in County Clare. These plastics are the primary material in her art practice.

Through her work, Bleynat strives to imbue value back into waste material; asserting that beauty and function must be drawn from existent material in plastic-pollution reversal.
