Arthur Melo has message for Jurgen Klopp after playing just once on Liverpool loan

Arthur has thanked Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool for the support they showed him at a "difficult time" as the Brazilian struggled for form and fitness during his season-long loan spell at Anfield.

The Brazilian joined the Reds from Juventus on loan last summer as Klopp eyed up a late midfield addition following injuries to Thiago, Fabinho and Jordan Henderson. However, Arthur would go on to make just one appearance for the Reds, which came in the 4-1 defeat at Napoli in the Champions League.

He was forced to have surgery on a pulled quad muscle last October which ruled him out for the vast majority of the season. Arthur did return to the matchday squad for the trip to Bournemouth in March, but failed to get any minutes on the pitch.

Having returned to Juventus this summer, Arthur has since opened up about his torrid loan spell which lasted just 13 minutes of game time. "I think I was a bit unlucky," he told Mundo Deportivo. "But that is in the past and I feel much better than then. I really want to play again and seek my highest level as a player."

He added: "I went through difficult times, but it was very important for me to have the support of everyone, from the coach, Klopp, and the entire coaching staff, to my team-mates. The dressing room helped me a lot in a difficult moment."

"I think I've learned a lot," he added. "When you leave your comfort zone, you learn even more. You have to evolve in some way, and the injury has helped me to do so."

On his time in England, Arthur explained: "I have learned a lot. In Italy, I learned a lot tactically and I also improved physically. And in England, the intensity is incredible; the game doesn't stop for a second."

His agent, Federico Pastorello, also outlined Arthur's biggest issue back in March. " The last day of the transfer market arrived, and he paid for the season in which he played little at Juventus, he was integrating and had an annoying injury for which he had to operate," Pastorello told Tuttomercatoweb.

"It was three months of injury, he made his second bench, I hope he can at least give his contribution. I think he’ll come back from the loan and then we’ll see what to do."

Arthur has been linked with a move back to the Premier League. Brighton, Newcastle and Aston Villa have all shown interest in the ex-Barcelona midfielder, who is considering his options ahead of the new campaign.
