Arthur Melo agent makes fitness claim ahead of Liverpool v Brighton clash

Arthur Melo's agent has "no doubt" the Brazilian will be a success at Liverpool after completing a loan move from Juventus on deadline day.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp made a last-minute move for a midfielder after Jordan Henderson's injury forced the German's hand in the transfer market.

The Reds had wanted to sign Aurelien Tchouameni but the Frenchman chose to move to Real Madrid in a deal worth £85m. Jude Bellingham, meanwhile, is highly thought of by Klopp, but faces competition from the likes of Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City.

Arthur made 63 appearances for Juventus following his move from Barcelona, but was made surplus to requirements by boss Massimiliano Allegri.

And the 26-year-old's agent, Federico Pastorello, told Calciomercato.it : "Arthur played very little last year, he then had a scheduled surgery in June, thus skipping part of the preparation. He was not in Allegri’s plans, so he did not train with the rest of the team, therefore it is normal that arriving on the last day in these conditions, from his point of view he needed extra work.

“Now he has recovered and is at the complete disposal of the manager. I have no doubt that he will do very well with the Liverpool shirt.”

Arthur made his Liverpool debut by coming on as a late substitute in the 4-1 Champions League group-stage defeat at Napoli earlier this month and then got more minutes under his belt as an over-age player in the U21s' Football League Trophy clash at Rochdale.

He is now expected to be included in Klopp's squad when the Reds return to Premier League action at home to Brighton on Saturday.
