Art Attack legend Neil Buchanan unrecognisable years after leaving show for rock band

A children's TV presenter looks completely different to when he rose to fame in the 1990s. Art Attack legend Neil Buchanan is best known for his time on the CITV show, where he led a total of 19 seasons of the British art show before it ended after 17 years in 2007.

Neil, now 66, was known for his clean-shave and bright red jumper, but looks completely different after taking to performing with the heavy rocky band Marseilles. The former presenter now has long locks and stubble, but says he still sketches professionally in-between shows with his band.

He also keeps his fans up to date on social media, and occasionally posts some of his personal artwork. Neil first joined the band back in 1976, long before his role on Art Attack, and they have performed in support of the likes of Judas Priest, Nazareth, Whitesnake and UFO on tour, reports The Daily Mirror.

The children's presenter was recently forced to deny that he was Banksy after a social media rumour began spreading. Twitter users were sharing a theory after a fan noticed how Banksy's art was popping up in locations where Neil had performed his music.

However, this was not the case as in September 2022 a statement on Neil's website addressed the claims. It read: "Neil Buchanan is NOT Banksy.

"We have been inundated with inquiries over the weekend regarding the current social media story. Unfortunately this website does not have the infrastructure to answer all these inquiries individually, however, we can confirm that there is no truth in the rumour whatsoever.

"Neil spent lockdown with vulnerable members of his family and is now preparing to launch his new art collection in 2021."
