Arson suspect named as KFC set on fire causing 'considerable damage'

A man has been charged after a KFC was set on fire, causing "considerable damage" to the premises.

On December 15, 2021 Merseyside Police received a report that a lit cardboard tube was thrown onto the roof of a KFC restaurant on Irlam Drive in Kirkby. Detectives in Knowsley have since charged a man with arson and drug offences after the incidents of criminal damage and arson that caused considerable damage.

James Haselden, 18 years, of Field Lane, Knowsley was arrested and charged with arson and possession of a Class B drug. He was charged on Sunday, March 13 and bailed with the condition not to enter the KFC In Kirkby.

Haselden will appear before Liverpool and Knowsley Magistrates Court on Wednesday, April 6, 2022.
