Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman announced that charges have been filed in two separate arson cases unrelated to the Palisades and Eaton fires. These incidents occurred within an area facing dangerously high winds this week.
During a news conference, Hochman revealed that an individual was charged with setting fires in the city of Industry. The suspect ignited bushes, a pallet, and the back of a tractor trailer. Fortunately, firefighters were able to quickly extinguish these fires, preventing further damage.
Another person has been charged with starting a fire underneath the I-605 freeway in Irwindale. Similar to the previous incident, the fire was promptly put out by emergency responders.
Earlier this week, Hochman's office brought charges against 10 individuals, nine for looting and one for arson not linked to the Palisades and Eaton fires. The accused individuals are now facing sentences ranging from six to 22 years in prison.
During the news conference, Hochman emphasized the severity of the punishments, stating that justice will be served for those who seek to exploit the tragic circumstances. He underscored the significant consequences that individuals involved in criminal activities during this time will face.
