Police are investigating a suspected arson attack after an empty former takeaway was hit by fire overnight. Emergency services descended on Lane End Road, in Burnage, at around 11.30pm on Saturday night (January 7).
It followed a blaze at a former takeaway building, which was previously Chicken Cottage and most recently The Chicken Hub. Greater Manchester Police has today (Sunday) confirmed it is treating the fire as a suspected arson.
Officers have been in attendance at the scene today, along with investigators from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS). Detectives are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

A spokesperson for GMP said: "GMP along with GMFRS were called to reports of a fire on Lane End Road in Burnage at around 11.30pm last night (Saturday, January 7 2023). Thankfully no injuries were reported at the scene and officers continue to investigate into what is a suspected arson."
A GMFRS spokesperson added: "At around 11:30pm on Saturday, January 7, firefighters were called to reports of a building fire on Lane End Road in Burnage. Three fire engines from Withington, Whitehill and Stockport fire stations quickly attended the scene.
"Firefighters used breathing apparatus, hose reels and a ventilation fan to extinguish the fire. The crew left the scene at around 1am.”
