Arsene Wenger makes early Arsenal Premier League title prediction for next season

Arsene Wenger has backed Arsenal to challenge for the Premier League title again next season despite faltering in their bid to win the trophy this campaign.

The north Londoners found themselves eight points clear at the top of the table less than a month ago before picking up just three points from a possible 12 in a run of four games that handed Manchester City the advantage in the title race. Now, Mikel Arteta's side are one point behind the reigning champions, who also have a game in hand on their title rivals with less than a month of the season remaining.

Still, legendary Gunners manager Wenger has heaped praise on his former side, claiming that they have a good chance of ending their 19-year wait for a league title next term. Speaking about the club he managed for 22 years, the Frenchman told Sky Sports: "I think we have in every position of the team, a player who has the quality to deliver the trophy.

"If it's not this year, it will be maybe next year, but the quality is there, you know, and the team is especially going forward, very young. But I like the way they play, they are mobile, they make intelligent decisions around the box, they play well together and all the ingredients are there."

Wenger was speaking after he was inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame, joining Manchester United icon Sir Alex Ferguson as just the second manager to be honoured. "I’m very happy to join the Premier League Hall of Fame with Sir Alex Ferguson, I must say he is certainly the greatest ever Premier League manager," Wenger added.

"There was a lot of scepticism when I arrived in the Premier League, so I had to gain people’s trust. During the invincible season I discovered what it was like to become a manager without fear.

"The team went to another level, above ego." A total of 19 players are now in the Hall of Fame, with a number of Arsenal legends included. The likes of Dennis Bergkamp, Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira, Ian Wright and most recently Tony Adams have all been inducted.
