Arsenal XI vs Nottingham Forest: Starting lineup, confirmed team news and injury latest today

Arsenal have Eddie Nketiah leading the line for their Premier League opener against Nottingham Forest this afternoon, with Gabriel dropping out of the side in a surprise move.

Nketiah started on the bench in the Community Shield a week ago but he comes into the side in north London, as Kai Havertz drops back into midfield alongside Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard.

Gabriel is named on the bench, meaning Thomas Partey looks set to start at right-back with Ben White shifting into the centre of the defence.

Arsenal have not been able to name David Raya in the squad. The Gunners had hoped to complete the deal for the Spaniard so could he could be available for the Emirates Stadium clash, but the paperwork was not submitted before the Friday noon deadline.

Oleksandr Zinchenko has not shaken off a calf injury and misses out on the squad again having not featured in pre-season, but Jorginho, who had been carrying a muscle problem, is named on the bench.

Arsenal XI: Ramsdale; Partey, Saliba, White, Timber; Rice, Odegaard, Havertz; Saka, Nketiah, Martinelli

Subs: Hein, Gabriel, Kiwior, Tomiyasu, Smith Rowe, Vieira, Jorginho, Nelson, Trossard

Time and date: 12.30pm BST, Saturday August 12, 2023

Venue: Emirates Stadium
