Arsenal are without goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale for their game against Aston Villa at Villa Park today.
Ramsdale suffered an injury in Wednesday’s 2-0 defeat against Liverpool so Bernd Leno makes a rare start in goal at Villa Park.
German international Bernd Leno comes in for his first league appearance since August.
Ramsdale’s form has taken him into Gareth Southgate’s England squad for this month’s friendlies against Switzerland and Ivory Coast and there has been talk that the 23-year-old could usurp long-term No1 Jordan Pickford ahead of the World Cup in Qatar.
It remains to be seen whether he is now ruled out of the camp.
Arsenal make two changes from the side beaten at home by Liverpool in midweek.
Gabriel Martinelli also misses the game due to illness, so Emile Smith Rowe gets a start.
Takehiro Tomiyasu is not named in the squad so Cedric continues at right-back.
After being called up to the England squad, Ben White starts in central defence alongside Gabriel.
Arsenal confirmed XI: Leno, Tierney, White, Gabriel, Cedric, Partey, Xhaka, Smith Rowe, Saka, Odegaard, Lacazette.
Subs: Okonkwo, Holding, Pepe, Tavares, Sambi Lokonga, Elneny, Nketiah, Swanson.
Aston Villa confirmed XI: Martinez, Cash, Konsa, Mings, Young, Luiz, McGinn, Ramsey, Coutinho, Buendia, Watkins.
Subs: Olsen, Sanson, Traore, Chambers, Ings, Bailey, O’Reilly, Iroegbunam, Chukwuemeka.
