Arsenal vs Liverpool predicted line-ups amid Gunners boost and Mohamed Salah decision

Mohamed Salah could lead the line for Liverpool as they take on Arsenal after Jurgen Klopp provided a positive update on the Egyptian superstar.

The Premier League 's leading goalscorer netted for the 20th time this season in Saturday's 2-0 victory over Brighton before he was taken off with a foot injury.

Facing an in-form, top-four chasing Gunners outfit away from home without Salah is a daunting prospect for the Reds as they aim to shave the gap on Manchester City at the top of the table to just one point.

However, Klopp confirmed the swelling which prevented the 29-year-old from training on Monday has subsided, allowing him to take part in sessions on the eve of Wednesday's blockbuster clash.

"Mo is a tough cookie and he was only a little bit cut, we were quite lucky with it," Klopp told reporters on Tuesday.

"It was swollen, painful, yesterday a little less swollen, less painful. Now I got the message that Mo is ready to train."

Arsenal have also been dealt a boost as Takehiro Tomiyasu is nearing a return to fitness after struggling with injuries to both calves.

The Japan international has proved a valuable asset in defence since his arrival last summer but he has not featured in the Premier League for two months.

Arteta offered an encouraging update on Tomiyasu's condition on Tuesday, saying: "We have been trying to push him, but with the handbrake a little bit because we need to be careful.

"We don’t know [if tomorrow is too soon]. Let's see how he trains today."

While it appears unlikely Tomiyasu will be thrown straight back into the starting XI in light of Arteta's comments, he could return to the matchday squad with a spot among the substitutes.

This would mean Cedric Soares is likely to line up on the right of defence alongside Benjamin White, Gabriel and Kieran Tierney, ahead of Aaron Ramsdale in goal.

Having defeated Leicester 2-0 on Sunday, Arteta may be reluctant to make changes elsewhere, so Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka could form the midfield pivot behind Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli and Alexandre Lacazette.

As for Liverpool, Salah could join Diogo Jota and Sadio Mane in attack if he is passed fit, while Thiago could return to the midfield - in place of Jordan Henderson - alongside Fabinho and Naby Keita.

As Ibrahima Konate only recently resumed training after sustaining a knock, Joel Matip may be preferred to partner Virgil van Dijk at centre-back, with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson and Alisson rounding off the XI.

The Reds' only concerns are James Milner and Kostas Tsimikas, who have been unwell.

Arsenal predicted XI: Ramsdale; Cedric, White, Gabriel, Tierney; Partey, Xhaka; Saka, Odegaard, Martinelli; Lacazette.

Liverpool predicted XI: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Keita, Fabinho, Thaigo; Salah, Jota, Mane.
