Arsenal host Liverpool in a mammoth Premier League showdown in north London this afternoon.
The confident Gunners are in tremendous form and entered the weekend sitting top of the table after a superb north London derby win over Tottenham, while their strong Europa League campaign continued with a comfortable defeat of Norwegian minnows Bodo/Glimt on Thursday.
Arsenal have now dropped to second spot before kick-off against Liverpool with defending champions Manchester City, who were one point behind in second, brushing aside lowly Southampton on Saturday and Mikel Arteta’s high-flying side will be eager to swiftly re-assert their authority with another statement result.

Liverpool’s season is yet to achieve any sort of lift-off and they are likely out of the title picture already, with a difficult start continuing as they were held to a thrilling 3-3 draw by Brighton at Anfield last time out.
That result means Jurgen Klopp’s Reds have won just two of their opening seven games this season, drawing four, as they languish in ninth place and already a full 11 points adrift of Arsenal. A 2-0 win over Rangers in midweek added to a victory over Ajax means their Champions League campaign is at least now back on track, although they have so much work to do domestically.
Date, kick-off time and venue
Arsenal vs Liverpool is scheduled or a 4:30pm BST kick-off time on Sunday, October 9 2022.
The Emirates Stadium in north London will host the contest.

Arsenal vs Liverpool prediction
Arsenal are positively purring with confidence at the moment, having bounced back from their only blip of the season at Old Trafford - a game in which they also performed well - in emphatic style.
Liverpool, by contrast, have made their worst start to a season under Klopp and need a reaction soon to avoid being completely left behind in humiliating fashion.
If recent patterns continue then Arsenal have an excellent chance to worsen the Reds’ plight on home soil, though we have a feeling they will produce a performance here to earn a share of the spoils in a lively encounter.
2-2 draw.
