Arsenal vs Fulham LIVE: Premier League result, final score and reaction

Emirates Stadium, the home of Arsenal - (Getty Images)

Follow live coverage as Arsenal face Fulham today in the Premier League. Another top-flight season will be covered in full right here with The Independent, as reigning champions Manchester City look to make it an unprecedented five titles in a row come the end of 2024/25.

The likes of Arsenal and Liverpool will be chasing Pep Guardiola's side, but just as fascinating will be the race for Champions League places, with more teams than ever before having designs on top-four finishes. Chelsea remain big-spending, Manchester United's latest rebuild continues and both Tottenham and Newcastle will expect improvements this year - yet it was Aston Villa who snared fourth last term.

Meanwhile, it's Southampton, Leicester City and Ipswich Town who made it back to the elite after promotion last year and each will have hope they can make it more than a one-year stay. Follow the latest live action from the Premier League below:

Arsenal FC 2 - 1 Fulham FC

Arsenal vs Fulham

21:43

FULL-TIME: ARSENAL 2-1 FULHAM

Arsenal vs Fulham

21:43

Muniz does well to win a corner for Fulham. Pereira swings it in and Andersen meets it, but it drifts harmlessly wide of the post. That is most likely that.

Arsenal vs Fulham

21:40

Assist Kouassi Ryan Sessegnon

Arsenal vs Fulham

21:39

Goal Rodrigo Muniz Carvalho

Arsenal vs Fulham

21:39

Odegaard's corner is headed by Andersen as far as Rice, who slices a volley over the top from the edge of the box.

Arsenal vs Fulham

21:38

Sessegnon races away down the right and is adamant he should have been awarded a corner after a tussle with Kiwior, but the assistant referee sees it differently.

Arsenal vs Fulham

21:37

Six minutes are added on at the end of the second half.

Arsenal vs Fulham

21:36

OFFSIDE! Rice wins the ball back in midfield and Odegaard slides in Martinelli, who finishes nicely but is correctly flagged offside.

Arsenal vs Fulham

21:34

Chance for Fulham! Willian switches the ball to Robinson, who stands a cross up for a Sessegnon header that is straight at Raya.

Arsenal vs Fulham

21:32

Martinelli gets the wrong side of Andersen, who chucks out a last-ditch foot and nicks the ball off the winger just as he's about to shoot.

Arsenal vs Fulham

21:31

Fulham continue to probe but will do well to create anything as clear-cut as that Muniz effort. Arsenal look happy to see this one out now.

Arsenal vs Fulham

21:29

Saka and Odegaard show glimpses of the magic they can create together, but the Norwegian takes the ball off the toe of Trossard as the ball sits up nicely for a shot.

Arsenal vs Fulham

21:28

MUNIZ MISSES A SITTER! Fulham break 4v3 and Iwobi does really well to dig out a cross to the back post, where Muniz is completely unmarked from less than six yards and plants his header wide. That's probably Fulham's big chance to get back into this.

Arsenal vs Fulham

21:22

Sessegnon is also on, replacing Diop.

Arsenal vs Fulham

21:22

Substitution Jurriën David Norman Timber Leandro Trossard

Arsenal vs Fulham

21:22

Muniz replaces Jimenez upfront for Fulham.

Arsenal vs Fulham

21:22

The Emirates is buoyant after that dream comeback for Saka, though a hush descends as Timber goes down with an issue.

Arsenal vs Fulham

21:18

Assist Gabriel Teodoro Martinelli Silva

Arsenal vs Fulham

21:17

Saka's deep cross is met by Partey at the back post. The ball is half-cleared but Rice pounces and sees his effort blocked.

Arsenal vs Fulham

21:17

Yellow Card Declan Rice

Arsenal vs Fulham

21:16

Odegaard skips inside and is fouled by Iwobi, as Arsenal start to count down the minutes to full-time.

Arsenal vs Fulham

21:12

Substitution Emile Smith Rowe Alexander Chuka Iwobi

Arsenal vs Fulham

21:12

Substitution Adama Traoré Diarra Willian Borges da Silva

Arsenal vs Fulham

21:12

Substitution Saša Lukić Andreas Hugo Hoelgebaum Pereira

Arsenal vs Fulham

21:11

Substitution Ethan Chidiebere Nwaneri Bukayo Ayoyinka Temidayo Saka

Arsenal vs Fulham

21:11

CHANCE FOR FULHAM! Traore pinches the ball from Kiwior and bursts into the box - but shoots with his left foot when a cross would have presented Jimenez with a simple tap-in.

Arsenal vs Fulham

21:09

This must be one of Martinelli's most effective games in some time. He nutmegs Castagne, who hasn't been able to deal with him, and wins yet another corner. Arsenal are turning up the heat...

Arsenal vs Fulham

21:08

Another chance! This time Merino is denied as the next corner bounces out of the melee and he hits a sweet left-footed volley that is turned behind.

Arsenal vs Fulham

21:07

Martinelli comes close! Rice's corner finds the Brazilian, whose goalbound header is blocked by Cuenca.

Arsenal vs Fulham

21:06

Lewis-Skelly is becoming more and more influential, his overlapping run forcing a corner down the left.

Arsenal vs Fulham

21:04

Odegaard drifts a decent free-kick into the box but Saliba gets too much on it, lifting his header over the top at the near post.

Arsenal vs Fulham

21:03

Lewis-Skelly drives away from Lukic and the midfielder persistently attempts to drag him down, eventually being penalised and entering the referee's book as a result.

Arsenal vs Fulham

21:02

BIG CHANCE FOR TIMBER! The full-back plays a neat one-two with Odegaard on the edge of the box and drives a shot at Leno from six yards out, with the goalkeeper winded as he makes the save.

Arsenal vs Fulham

20:59

JIMENEZ FORCES A SAVE! The striker battles with Saliba and then runs through as the ball bounces towards goal, driving a left-footed effort that Raya is the equal of. That's Fulham's best chance of the game.

Arsenal vs Fulham

20:57

Yellow Card Joachim Christian Andersen

Arsenal vs Fulham

20:57

ODEGAARD SKIES IT! It's Martinelli yet again who gets to the byline and pulls it back for his skipper, who gets right underneath it with his left foot from close range and it doesn't trouble Leno.

Arsenal vs Fulham

20:56

Martinelli goes down the outside and lifts yet another cross into the box but it evades Merino. Nwaneri is then flagged offside as the move develops.

Arsenal vs Fulham

20:54

Cuenca stays down after Partey follows through on a sliding tackle and catches him on the leg. The referee deems it a fair challenge but does irritate the home crowd by stopping the play with the defender on the turf.

Arsenal vs Fulham

20:51

The players are back out and Odegaard gets the second half under way.

Arsenal vs Fulham

20:46

Silva will hope his bench can have an impact in the second half, with Iwobi, Pereira, Willian and Muniz all to call on at some stage. Arteta will surely introduce Saka to the action though, too, and that strength among his own substitues justifies the 82.0% chance of winning inferred by the OPTA Live Win Probability calculator. The visitors are given just a 3.8% chance of winning.

Arsenal vs Fulham

20:43

That has been far from straightforward for Arsenal, who come up against a solid Fulham side with lots of pace and energy, but they have managed to fashion a lead going into half-time. Timber's through ball to Nwaneri opened up the game, and the 17-year-old did what he does by teeing up Merino to score with a deflected effort that Leno had no chance of stopping. Arteta will be concerned by an injury to Gabriel just seven days out from the Champions League quarter-final first leg against Real Madrid but will be much more pleased with his side's defensive effort in general in that half. Fulham have just had just two shots, neither of which were on target, with an xG of 0.03 - while Arsenal have had seven efforts and boast an xG of 0.68. Keep that up for 45 more minutes, and they will be within nine points of Liverpool at the top of the Premier League heading into tomorrow's Merseyside derby.

Arsenal vs Fulham

20:36

HALF-TIME: ARSENAL 1-0 FULHAM

Arsenal vs Fulham

20:35

There is one final scare for Arsenal as Partey aims a header back towards Raya with Jimenez lurking - but the striker is wrong-footed and can't take advantage.

Arsenal vs Fulham

20:34

Merino is flagged offside as the first half peters out.

Arsenal vs Fulham

20:32

Four minutes of time will be added on at the end of the first half.

Arsenal vs Fulham

20:32

Fulham win a corner as Raya gets fingertips on a deep cross to take it off the head of Traore. Arsenal deal with it comfortably.

Arsenal vs Fulham

20:29

Odegaard has a sight of goal when Martinelli tees him up from the left-hand side of the box but his effort is blocked from close range.

Arsenal vs Fulham

20:29

Arsenal have continued their control since the goal. The home fans want a foulf for a challenge on Lewis-Skelly after a sustained spell of dangerous possession.

Arsenal vs Fulham

20:27

Fulham look set for a long evening now - though they were the last time to beat Arsenal from behind in the Premier League. The Gunners have avoided defeat in their last 33 matches when scoring first in the league, since a 2-1 loss to Silva's side on 31 December 2023.

Arsenal vs Fulham

20:23

Assist Ethan Chidiebere Nwaneri

Arsenal vs Fulham

20:21

Arsenal enjoy some controlled possession but aren't really getting anywhere. Partey's long throw is easily dealt with before the Ghanaian's cross is claimed by Leno.

Arsenal vs Fulham

20:18

Timber has a cut on his knee but looks OK to continue, thankfully for Arteta.

Arsenal vs Fulham

20:16

Another injury worry at the back for Arsenal. Gabriel is already off - and now Timber looks in some trouble...

Arsenal vs Fulham

20:15

Martinelli puts in his sixth cross of the opening half hour, which Fulham smuggle away. The Brazilian has been the standout so far.

Arsenal vs Fulham

20:12

The Emirates crowd is on its feet - but it has nothing to do with the football. Saka is out for his first warm-up of the night and the home fans greet him with a hero's welcome.

Arsenal vs Fulham

20:10

Diop steps forward and tries to weave a way into the penalty box before Rice mops up. Fulham looks confident and are proving a decent match for Arsenal here.

Arsenal vs Fulham

20:08

CLOSE FOR NWANERI! It's Martinelli who provides the moment for Arsenal, beating Castagne and standing up a cross to the back post, where Nwaneri hits a firm volley that is kept out by Leno.

Arsenal vs Fulham

20:05

Rice nealy gets a shot away at one end before Fulham break again, Partey sliding in to deny Robinson down the left. Silva's gameplan is very obvious but the Gunners have been up to the test so far.

Arsenal vs Fulham

20:02

Gabriel can't continue and Kiwior is called upon to replace him.

Arsenal vs Fulham

20:02

Gabriel is down with injury deep in his own half but Arsenal don't put the ball out and eventually lose it to Fulham, who feel no need to knock it out themselves. The visitors eventually win a corner and Arsenal's centre-back looks in some trouble.

Arsenal vs Fulham

20:00

Traore looks to get Fulham moving on the counter-attack again but this time it's TImber with a timely tackle to stop him in his tracks. That's a threat the Gunners will need to be aware of.

Arsenal vs Fulham

19:58

Rice slides Nwaneri in down the side of the penalty area but the youngster just overruns it before he can get his cross away and the assistant referee flags for a goal kick.

Arsenal vs Fulham

19:54

Martinelli looks in the mood here. He picks up the ball again down his left side, this time coming in on his right foot but overhitting the cross beyond the back post.

Arsenal vs Fulham

19:53

Martinelli turns on the after-burners down the left-hand side, skinning Castagne and pulling the ball back towards Rice, whose shot is blocked. The ball then bobbles out to Partey and his bouncing effort is behind for a goal kick.

Arsenal vs Fulham

19:50

Neither team has got much control so far, with the ball bouncing around midfield. Traore attempts to emerge from the chaos with the ball but Partey stops him with a solid sliding challenge.

Arsenal vs Fulham

19:48

This is certainly no gimme for the Gunners. They haven't won any of their last three matches against Fulham, though they also haven't lost any of their last 31 home games against tonight's visitors.

Arsenal vs Fulham

19:47

Smith Rowe gets the game underway for Fulham...

Arsenal vs Fulham

19:46

The teams are out and we're just about ready to go here. Unsurprisingly, Mikel Arteta's side are hot favourites according to the OPTA Live Win Probability calculator, being given a 63.0% chance of victory, while their visitors are rated as 15.5% likely winners.

Arsenal vs Fulham

19:33

Silva rings the changes after his side's disappointing showing at the weekend, bringing five fresh players into his side. Diop and Cuenca come into a back three, while Traore, Jimenez and Smith Rowe form a completely fresh attack. Smith Rowe returns to the Emirates for the first time since leaving his boyhood club for the Cottagers last summer.

Arsenal vs Fulham

19:28

FULHAM SUBS: Calvin Bassey, Harrison Reed, Rodrigo Muniz, Tom Cairney, Alex Iwobi, Andreas Pereira, Willian, Steven Benda, Ryan Sessegnon

Arsenal vs Fulham

19:28

The big news for Arsenal is that Saka is back in their matchday squad for the first time since December 21, when he suffered a serious hamstring injury against Crystal Palace. The Gunners' talisman must settle for a spot on the bench, however, with Nwaneri starting on the right-hand side. Mikel Merino, who scored the winner against Chelsea before the break, looks set to lead the line once more.

Arsenal vs Fulham

19:28

FULHAM (3-4-3): Bernd Leno; Issa Diop, Joachim Andersen, Jorge Cuenca; Timothy Castagne, Sasa Lukic, Sander Berge, Antonee Robinson; Adama Traore, Raul Jimenez, Emile Smith Rowe

Arsenal vs Fulham

19:23

ARSENAL SUBS: Kieran Tierney, Bukayo Saka, Jakub Kiwior, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Leandro Trossard, Jorginho, Raheem Sterling, Neto, Jimi Gower

Arsenal vs Fulham

19:23

ARSENAL (4-3-3): David Raya; Jurrien Timber, William Saliba, Gabriel, Myles Lewis-Skelly; Martin Odegaard, Thomas Partey, Declan Rice; Ethan Nwaneri, Mikel Merino, Gabriel Martinelli

Arsenal vs Fulham

19:23

Fulham may be somewhat flat having been beaten 3-0 at home by Crystal Palace in the FA Cup semi-final on Saturday but must quickly rouse themselves with plenty still to play for in the league. The Cottagers are only three points off fifth, which could well be a Champions League qualification spot, and a shock win in north London would put them right in the mix to sneak into that position. Marco Silva's side have won three of their last four league away games and already avoided defeat at Liverpool and Chelsea so far this season.

Arsenal vs Fulham

19:23

It goes without saying that if Arsenal are to stand any chance of catching Liverpool at the top of the Premier League, they must win games like this one to pile the pressure on. The Gunners trail their title rivals by 12 points with nine matches to play but can cut that gap to single figures with a victory here, and should feel a bit better about life having overcome Chelsea 1-0 last time out earlier this month.
