Arsenal vs Crystal Palace LIVE! Premier League result, latest updates and reaction after thrilling draw

Arsenal held to a draw by Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium - (Getty Images)

Arsenal vs Crystal Palace LIVE

Arsenal have delayed Liverpool's inevitable Premier League title party after being held to a 2-2 draw at home by Crystal Palace. The Gunners knew that a loss tonight will have confirmed Arne Slot's side crowned champions of England once again, but let leads slip twice at the Emirates Stadium and now have a battle on their hands to seal a top-two finish.

With a Champions League semi-final first leg showdown at home to Paris Saint-German on the horizon, Mikel Arteta's team selection was an interesting point of discussion as Jurrien Timber and Myles Lewis-Skelly both started but Bukayo Saka was only fit enough for the bench.

This fixture had been brought forward due to Palace's involvement in the FA Cup semi-final at the weekend, and fans were treated to some stunning goals, in particular from Eberechi Eze and Jean-Philippe Mateta as both teams warmed up for their respective fixtures by appearing to avoid any serious injuries. Arsenal player ratings

22:18 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

David Raya 6

Failed to claim a corner early on and Eddie Nketiah should have scored. Had a few other shaky moments, but made a great save to deny Marc Guehi midway through the second half.

Jurrien Timber 7

Created Arsenal’s second goal with a driving run and pass that picked out Trossard. Looked a threat whenever he went forward.

William Saliba 5

Was having a solid game before a sloppy pass gifted Palace the chance to equalise late on. A rare error from the Frenchman.

Jakub Kiwior 7

Put Arsenal in front inside three minutes with a great header from Martin Odegaard’s free-kick. Made a big block to stop Nketiah marking his return to the Emirates with a goal.

Match report

22:12 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Arsenal have delayed Liverpool’s Premier League title celebrations after drawing at home with Crystal Palace.

Defeat at home to their London rivals would have confirmed Arne Slot’s side as champions of England for a 20th time without kicking a ball.

However, goals from Jakub Kiwior and Leandro Trossard means those inevitable title celebrations must be put on hold - even if it’s only for a few more days - but the Gunners have dropped more points and will be looking over their shoulders at the chasing pack for a top-two finish.

Glasner makes Nketiah admission

18:35 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Oliver Glasner has admitted he feels “sad” for Eddie Nketiah about how the Englishman’s first season at Crystal Palace has unfolded.

Glasner hinted on Tuesday that Nketiah is in line for his first start for the Eagles since last month’s 1-0 league win over Ipswich when they visit his former employers, Arsenal, on Wednesday night.

The 25-year-old striker has scored five goals and registered two assists in 30 appearances this term, since making a £25million move from Arsenal to Selhurst Park last summer. However, he has only started 10 matches in all competitions.

Arteta praises Glasner

18:30 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Mikel Arteta has heaped praise on Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner ahead of tonight's London derby.

"Unbelievable job, I think. What it's taken the team and the club to be in the position they are in right now, I think they fully deserve it. I think it's given the team a very clear identity," Arteta told reporters.

"I think it's maximised the squad and the ability of that squad. And they are a really tough opponent. They are really well coached. I think he's got a very clear mentality, how he wants to approach games.

"And they are very competitive to reach their position there on the table and where they are in the FA Cup. Certainly, it's not a coincidence. And I think they deserve it."

Why Liverpool fans should support Arsenal against Crystal Palace

18:25 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

For one night only, Liverpool fans will support Arsenal when the Gunners play Crystal Palace today.

Should Arsenal lose against Palace in a rearranged London derby at the Emirates Stadium, then Liverpool will be crowned Premier League champions without kicking a ball.

So, after eight months of fighting for the title, why does Arne Slot hope the Gunners avoid a slip-up as Liverpool hunt down their second title in five years?

Well, Slot wants Liverpool to win the title at Anfield rather than have it gift-wrapped.

Palace request thwarted

18:20 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Oliver Glasner has revealed that the Premier League rejected Crystal Palace’s request to have their match against Arsenal moved.

The Eagles visit the Emirates Stadium tonight, meaning they have one day fewer than Aston Villa - who are away at Manchester City on yesterday - to prepare for Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final tie between the clubs at Wembley.

Arsenal vs Crystal Palace had already been picked as a televised match on Sky Sports by the time it had to be rescheduled.

In the intervening period, Sky also picked Manchester City vs Aston Villa as Tuesday night’s televised match. The broadcaster avoided showing two matches simultaneously by instead switching Arsenal vs Palace to Wednesday.

Palace were made aware of these reasons when they wrote to the Premier League to request an alternative rescheduled date. They were told the match would remain a Wednesday fixture.

Predicted Arsenal XI

18:15 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Mikel Arteta is expected to make changes to his team as a result, and he made three on Sunday for the trip to Ipswich.

Ben White and Oleksandr Zinchenko were two of those changes, with the pair coming in to play at full-back. Arteta may look to reverse that this time out, and give Jurrien Timber and Myles Lewis-Skelly minutes ahead of PSG.

Leandro Trossard could be handed another start after scoring twice at Ipswich, but Gabriel, Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus and Takehiro Tomiyasu are all long-term absentees.

Predicted Arsenal XI (4-3-3): Raya; Timber, Saliba, Kiwior, Lewis-Skelly; Odegaard, Partey, Rice; Nwaneri, Merino, Trossard

Three big Arsenal selection decisions

18:10 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Mikel Arteta has a number of selection headaches for Arsenal’s clash with Crystal Palace.

Tonight's game at Emirates Stadium is Arsenal’s final fixture before they host Paris Saint-Germain next week in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final.

Arteta has insisted there is no reason to rest players, arguing: “When the players are fit and want to play, they have to play”.

But the Arsenal boss will surely be wary of risking players given the title race is effectively over and their season is now all about the Champions League.

Arsenal vs Crystal Palace: Head to head (h2h) history and results

Arsenal wins: 35

The Gunners have won both meetings between the two sides this season, including a 3-2 win at the Emirates in a Carabao Cup tie back December.

Score prediction

17:50 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Arsenal cruised to victory at the weekend over Ipswich, firmly coasting on a wave after beating Real Madrid home and away. Mikel Arteta will make changes for a third game in eight games, but their threat will be little diminished.

Crystal Palace may well have one eye on their trip to Wembley on the weekend, and will again have to field a somewhat makeshift defence. This all plays into the Gunners' hands.

Arsenal to win, 2-0.

Crystal Palace team news

17:45 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Crystal Palace are struggling for centre-back cover again after Chris Richards was sent off against Bournemouth, with the obvious choice being Nathaniel Clyne as one of the back three. Ben Chilwell has been ruled out with illness.

Eddie Nketiah is available to face his former club and is in line to start, with Jean-Philippe Mateta potentially rested ahead of the FA Cup semi-final against Aston Villa. Chadi Riad and Cheick Doucoure are out for the season.

Arsenal team news

17:40 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Bukayo Saka has avoided serious injury after seeing Ipswich’s Leif Davis rake his studs down the back of his ankle, but it would perhaps be a surprise to see him start a second game in four days.

That would open the door for Ethan Nwaneri to start, alongside a return for Myles Lewis-Skelly, who was rested for the trip to Leicester after excelling against Real Madrid. Thomas Partey and Jurrien Timber are also in line to start.

Jorginho and Riccardo Calafiori are still out, along with long-term absentees Gabriel, Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus and Takehiro Tomiyasu.
