Arsenal vs Chelsea: Paul Merson baffled by goal-shy Blues in stark prediction for Premier League clash

Paul Merson has tipped Arsenal to bounce back with ease from their hammering at Manchester City when Chelsea travel across London on Tuesday.

The Premier League clash could begin with the Gunners in second place having played a game more than City, who face Fulham two days earlier, after a recent slump.

However, ex-Arsenal midfielder Merson has pointed out that their issues are nothing compared to that being faced by Chelsea.

Frank Lampard has lost all five games since taking over as interim manager with scoring goals a particular issue.

“I just don't see this being a hard game for Arsenal,” Merson wrote for Sportskeeda.

“I'd be shocked if Chelsea won. I'm looking at their fixtures and wondering where their next win could be coming from. Sure, they've got Nottingham Forest at home coming up but that's the only relatively easy-looking fixture.

“I don't see anything but an Arsenal win here.

“Given Chelsea's squad depth, they should not be in the position they are in. Chelsea don't have a good centre-forward. They can't seem to figure out where the goals are coming from.”

To add to Chelsea’s woes going into next week’s game, they have lost five of their last six meetings with Arsenal.
