Arsenal vs Aston Villa prediction and odds: Gabriel Jesus tipped to sink Steven Gerrard's Villains further

A result will be enough to keep Arsenal at the top of the Premier League but Mikel Arteta will be keen to maintain their winning run when they welcome an Aston Villa side who have been underwhelming under Steven Gerrard's side. Arteta saw his side manage to claw back a win against Fulham despite showing a below-par performance at home so will want to make sure his side avoid a repeat display when they welcome Villa.

The Gunners are the favourites going into this match at 11/20 with Betway while Villa are 19/4 to surprise Mikel Arteta's side at the Emirates Stadium and a draw is 10/3. It has been a superb start to the season for Arteta, considering this time last season they were the complete other end of the table, with a 100% start to the season - the only club in the league to maintain it.

Arsenal converted their form in pre-season solidly in the Premier League so far with wins at Crystal Palace, Leicester City, Bournemouth and Fulham to put them top of the Premier League table - much to the delight of some fans - but there is still plenty to do this year. They have six matches - including a trip to Old Trafford - before they welcome Tottenham Hotspur in the first North London Derby of the season in October.

For Villa, it has been very underwhelming under Gerrard despite so much promise at the start. The former Rangers boss took over from Dean Smith last season but has only managed 12 wins in 33 matches since arriving at Villa Park including their only win of the season so far against Everton.

Player to watch

Gabriel Jesus had a quiet game against Fulham and his frustrations were met further when he got himself booked when he confronted Portuguese midfielder Palhinha after a foul on Bukayo Saka. He has so far only managed to score in one league game - a brace against Leicester City - but has picked up three assists along the way too. The Brazil international is clearly set up as a team player which works well under Arteta's system but he will personally want to continue to prove his worth as a goalscoring striker. He is 19/20 to score anytime.

H2H

This will be the 200th meeting between the two sides with Arsenal picking up 85 wins, 45 draws and 69 defeats against Villa in all competitions. In the league, the two sides have met 180 times with the Gunners picking up 77 wins, 39 draws and 64 defeats against the Villains.
