Arsenal 0-1 West Ham, Ipswich 1-4 Tottenham and more: clockwatch – as it happened

Thank you all for joining me.

More football for you to enjoy. Bye.

And here is the report from Southampton v Brighton.

Jacob Steinberg on Crystal Palace seeing off Fulham.

The great John Brewin on Bournemouth v Wolves.

Jarrod Bowen says: “Everyone worked so hard. We knew everyone would have to dig in, defend really well and every person to a man did that today and that’s why we’ve got the result. Everyone wrote us off but we never wrote ourselves off because we know we can win any football game.”

Jonathan Wilson reports on Tottenham giving Ipswich a shooing.

Ed Aarons was at the Emirates to watch Arsenal lose to West Ham.

Simon McMahon in Scotland: “United held on for a deserved 1-0 win over Motherwell thanks to Sam Dalby’s first half header, despite an improved second half performance from the visitors. A late goal for Aberdeen means that United finish the day fourth. Dundee lost 3-1 at Ross County to find themselves deep in relegation trouble, and St. Mirren beat crisis club Rangers 2-0 at Ibrox, meaning Celtic remain 13 points clear.”

The live football does not stop!

Full time: Ipswich 1-4 Tottenham

Full time: Fulham 0-2 Crystal Palace

Another cracking away win for the Eagles. Oliver Glasner is a shrewd operator.

Full time: Arsenal 0-1 West Ham

Good news for Liverpool as Graham Potter secures his second win as West Ham boss. Bowen the matchwinner.

Full time: Bournemouth 0-1 Wolves

A huge win for Wolves thanks to that man Cunha.

Updated

Full time: Southampton 0-4 Brighton

A fine win for the Seagulls but another desperate day for the Saints.

Arsenal 0-1 West Ham: White has a chance to level things but fires it wide.

Arsenal 0-1 West Ham: The Hammers break and could finish off the match but they dawdle, allowing the hosts to regroup and clear.

Arsenal 0-1 West Ham: The Emirates looks like they have given up on this one and the team does not look like proving them wrong.

League Two: One of my tips for a player to watch out for this season, Samson Tovide, has equalised for Colchester against Wimbledon.

Ipswich 1-4 Tottenham: To be fair to Postecoglou, it really does help having almost a full squad available.

GOAL! Ipswich 1-4 Tottenham (Kulusevski, 84)

That really is game over now in the Jason Cundy derby.

League One: Carl’s son Miles Leaburn makes it 3-0 to Charlton against Exeter.

Jeremy Boyce emails: “So, the entire class of 24 is toast, Wolves only have to play it Revie style now to be sure that all 3 promoted teams go back down. Saints were lucky to get there at all, Tractors were obviously going to suffer from the bends after their over-rapid rise, and as for the Crisps.... Where would they be just now without the ageing genius Vardy ? How does that make it look for the Championship hopefuls 2025 ? You’d think that Leeds, Sheff U and Burnley have a bit more behind them and could possibly make it. But all 3 ? Who would go down ?”

The gap in quality between the Championship and Premier League is growing each season.

Arsenal 0-1 West Ham: The Gunners have a free-kick just outside the area. Sterling hits the wall and Saliba has a chance but sends it well over.

GOAL! Southampton 0-4 Brighton (Hinshelwood, 82)

Southampton fail to deal with a corner and Hinshelwood takes the easy chance to finish.

Team news from the late game.

Aston Villa (4-2-3-1): Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Mings, Maatsen; McGinn, Tielemans; Asensio, Rogers, Ramsey; Watkins

Subs: Olsen, Zych, Rashford, Digne, Garcia, Malen, Bogarde, Bailey, Jimoh.

Chelsea (5-2-3): Jorgensen; Gusto, James, Chalobah, Colwill, Cucurella; Caicedo Fernandez; Neto, Nkunku, Palmer,.

Subs: Sanchez, Adarabioyo, Sancho, Dewsbury-Hall, George, Acheampong, Amougou, Samuels-Smith, Mheuka.

League One: Blackpool look set to end their run of eight home draws in a row. Lee Evans makes it 3-1 against Crawley.

GOAL! Ipswich 1-3 Tottenham (Spence, 77)

Maddison has come off the bench and created the third. The midfielder finds Spence who takes aim and watches his shot defeat Palmer, who is caught out by a deflection.

Arsenal 0-1 West Ham: Karen Asad says: “For crying out loud! Don’t tell me I’m going to hear another week of referee injustice claims about yet another Myles Lewis-Skelly red card!”

This one won’t be overturned.

Championship: Sargent has netted his second of the day to make it Norwich 3-1 Stoke.

Scottish Premiership: Rangers are losing 2-0 at home to St Mirren.

Arsenal 0-1 West Ham: The sending off will be celebrated in the away end at the Emirates and on Merseyside.

RED CARD! Myles Lewis-Skelly

Arsenal 0-1 West Ham: Lewis-Skelly takes down Kudus with the West Ham through on goal. The referee gives him a yellow originally but he is sent to the monitor and the defender is dismissed.

GOAL! Southampton 0-3 Brighton (Mitoma, 71)

Too easy.

Arsenal 0-1 West Ham: Arteta’s attacking options on the bench are Sterling and Butler-Oyedeji. Will he turn to them soon?

Southampton 0-2 Brighton: Almost a third for the Seagulls but Minteh sees his shot saved. The Saints are utter garbage.

GOAL! Fulham 0-2 Crystal Palace (Munoz, 66)

Palace have doubled the lead now. The Eagles counter and Munoz rifles the ball into the net.

Updated

Arsenal 0-1 West Ham: Sean emails: “Arteta has finally put Zinchenko in the midfield three. Feels like Arsenal’s very last roll of the dice before this title run official dies.”

Ipswich 1-2 Tottenham: NO GOAL! Woolfenden thinks he has equalised after nodding home but he is well off.

NO GOAL! Fulham 0-1 Crystal Palace

The VAR officials rule Mateta is offside and the goal is ruled out.

GOAL! Southampton 0-2 Brighton (Rutter, 56)

Minteh crosses for Rutter to tap the ball in and end the match as a content.

Updated

Fulham 0-1 Crystal Palace: Mateta becomes the first Palace player to score in four away games in a row thanks to a punishing finish after a Sarr pass. But the goal is eventually ruled out.

Updated

Arsenal 0-1 West Ham: Bowen almost gets his second. Cresswell sends in a cracking cross but the Hammers forward can’t find a finish.

Rice and Calafiori are off for Arsenal, Zinchenko and Lewis-Skelly on.

Championship: Portsmouth have doubled their lead over QPR and Norwich are ahead against Stoke.

Bournemouth 0-1 Wolves: Joao Gomes has been replaced by Strand Larsen. The Brazilian had picked up a booking, which might explain Pereira’s thinking.

Championship: Josh Murphy scores a superb opener by cutting in from the left and sending a shot into the bottom corner to put Portsmouth 1-0 up on QPR.

Southampton 0-1 Brighton: NO GOAL! Archer puts the ball into the back of the net via the inside of the post, only to see the offside flag go up.

League One: Scott Sinclair! The former Man City man opens the scoring for Bristol Rovers against Northampton.

Second half

The second half whistles are going around the country …

Updated

Celtic also suffered a surprise defeat.

Sunderland were shocked by Hull earlier.

James emails about the West Ham opener: “Shades of that famous photo of Nigel Clough scoring with a diving header - Bowen’s got his eyes open tracking the ball all the way. Old big ‘ead would be proud.

“(in less pleasing news, Motherwell one down at Tannadice. New manager bounce please, lads).”

Scotland’s Simon McMahon offers the latest fitba news: “United dominating possession and 1-0 up against Motherwell at half time. Dundee scored early at Ross County but have been pegged back to 1-1 after the first 45. As it stands, United back up to third in the table.”

League One: Cambridge are back under Neil Harris and he has made an immediate impact. The Us are 2-0 up against promotion-chasing Stockport.

GOAL! Arsenal 0-1 West Ham (Bowen, 44)

Wan-Bissaka gets down the wing and sends in the cross for Bowen, who brings back the diving header from the 90s.

Updated

Bournemouth 0-1 Wolves: Aaron emails: “Brentford supporter here, so no skin in the game. I for one hate that red for Zabarnyi, especially when given through VAR when the ref already gave a yellow. His plant leg stays on the ground, he’s in control, and his only offence is that the round of his studs hits the round ball and he can’t control where the foot goes.

”See these all the time and most of the time they feel too harsh for the degree of recklessness involved.”

Championship: The No Manager Derby between Swansea and Blackburn is going the way of the Welsh side ager a Vipotnik goal.

GOAL! Fulham 0-1 Crystal Palace (Andersen og, 39)

Lacroix flicks a corner on and it goes in via former Palace defender Andersen.

GOAL! Ipswich 1-2 Tottenham (Hutchinson, 36)

GAME ON! Clarke gets down the left and finds Hutchinson who whacks the ball into the net at the first time of asking.

GOAL! Bournemouth 0-1 Wolves
(Cunha, 36)

Wolves make the most of the one-man advantage. Cunha whacks the ball into the roof of the net with a fine finish.

Championship: Lewis Dobbin has given Norwich the lead against Stoke, while Coventry are beating Preston.

Hasan emails: “There’s a certain kind of poetry to Everton’s first top tier bout at their new ground ending much the same as their last one did at Goodison, ie a last gasp 2-2 draw against a big team (judicious asterisks notwithstanding). Although given the contentious circumstances, I doubt either manager would have been joyously composing Milton-esque sonnets in the dressing rooms after ...”

RED CARD! Illia Zabarnyi

Bournemouth 0-0 Wolves: Zabarnyi is booked for a challenge on Ait-Nouri. The referee is sent over to the monitor to see the Bournemouth man caught the wing-back high. After a check, he upgrades the yellow to the red.

Ipswich 0-2 Tottenham: Matthew Carpenter-Arévalo emails: “When Ange-ball works it’s so much fun to watch.”

Ipswich 0-2 Tottenham: It should be noted McKenna is without the suspended Axel Tuanzebe who would be playing at right-back. His replacement Ben Godfrey is not enjoying life against Son.

GOAL! Ipswich 0-2 Tottenham (Johnson, 26)

The same combination does it for Spurs once more. Son makes Godfrey and O’Shea look silly before finding Johnson who does the rest.

Arsenal 0-0 West Ham: Bowen has a good chance but sends his shot well wide from a decent position.

GOAL! Southampton 0-1 Brighton (Joao Pedro, 23)

In case you were wondering, Southampton are going down. Joao Pedro goes through one-on-one and dinks the ball over Ramsdale to open the scoring.

Updated

Championship: There are only five 3pm kick-offs in the second tier. Thus far one goal has been scored thanks to Alex Mowatt for West Brom v Oxford.

Arsenal 0-0 West Ham: The Gunners are repeatedly threatening down the left as Wan-Bissaka struggles to cope with Calafiori and Trossard.

GOAL! Ipswich 0-1 Tottenham (Johnson, 18)

Son gets down the left and pings a cross which ends up in the back of the net thanks to Johnson.

Updated

Southampton 0-0 Brighton: Baleba’s free-kick is deflected off the wall, giving Ramsdale no chance but he thankfully gets to watch it go just over.

Ipswich 0-0 Tottenham: It is very lively at Portman Road, where Brennan Johnson has been cautioned for a foul on Leif Davis.

Ipswich 0-0 Tottenham: Tim Donovan emails: “This match could finish 5-0 to Ipswich, 0-5 to Spurs or 5-5. It’ll finish as a 0-0 draw then!”

Arsenal 0-0 West Ham: After a quiet start the Gunners are getting on top of the Hammers, who are being pushed by.

League Two: Doncaster are winning at Accrington, while Bradford lead MK Dons thanks to Antoni Sarcevic.

Southampton 0-0 Brighton: Bednarek has gone off injured and Bella-Kotchap is on for his first league appearance this season.

Bournemouth 0-0 Wolves: A great save from Arrizabalaga. A Wolves shot rebounds to Bellegarde whose shot from close range is superbly turned wide.

Ipswich 0-0 Tottenham: Delap is causing Spurs plenty of problems at the moment. Gray at centre-back might not be the ideal candidate to stop him.

Southampton 0-0 Brighton: Ugochukwu is already in the book for a poor challenge on Joao Pedro. Not what you need from your central midfielder.

National League: It’s all happening at York where Halifax have scored twice inside three minutes.

Ipswich 0-0 Tottenham: NO GOAL! Delap pings a shot which Vicario pushed out towards Hutchinson and it rebounds into the net but the flag is up.

The 3pm whistles have been tooted.

“A rousing fightback does not camouflage the extent to which Ruben Amorim and Manchester United were reprieved at Goodison Park. The visitors recovered from two goals down to salvage a point against in-form Everton, but only after a penalty awarded to David Moyes’ team was controversially overturned in the 96th minute.”

Andy Hunter was at Goodison Park.

Jeremy Boyce has been in touch: “Some top Premier League action coming no doubt, meanwhile in the Championship it’s still “elimination par arriere” like the Tour de France climbing Ventoux. Burnley kept up the pressure last night, spanking Sheff Wed 4 - 0. Barry’s Sunderland Young Boys cracked today, an unexpected 0 - 1 reversal to ‘Ull leaving them now 8 points short of the automatic spots. 3 into 2 don’t go, so one of the top 3 looks likely to join Sunderland in the playoffs. Monday night at Bramall Lane is looking well tasty.”

Balaji emails: “Arsenal effectively have four left-backs on the bench - Tierney, Lewis-Skelly, Zinchenko, Kiwior,

“Embarrassing riches to be left back on the bench …”

Four does seem like too many …

|Scotland’s game of the day, naturally, is at Tannadice as Dundee United welcome Motherwell, who will be managed for the first time by Michael Wimmer,” writes Simon McMahon. “The Steelmen have been United’s bogey team this season, having beaten them three times already, each time by a single goal, so United will be desperate to break that sequence, especially after a recent poor run of results. Struggling Dundee travel to Dingwall for a relegation six pointer against Ross County, and Rangers are at home to St. Mirren. In the early kick off Hibs held on to shock Celtic 2-1. The title race is back on.”

Arsenal’s new No 9.

Anyway … join Baz for all the reaction from Goodison Park. I will turn my attention to everything else in the Premier League today.

Full-time! Everton 2-2 Manchester United

What an ending. Needless to say, the Everton players are asking questions of the referee.

Updated

NO PENALTY! The VAR officials for this match have been pretty poor. I’ve no idea what Madley’s seen to decide that is not a penalty. Bottled it?

Andrew Madley is off to look at the monitor to decide whether to stick with his decision or not. Looks more like it is De Ligt on Young rather than Maguire, although he also has a tug.

Barney Ronay on the lad Nunez.

GOAL! Everton 2-2 Manchester United (Ugarte, 80): Everton fail to clear a free-kick and the Uruguayan picks up the loose ball and volleys home from just inside the box.

A work of art.

GOAL! Everton 2-1 Manchester United (Fernandes, 72). The United skipper curls in a free-kick to give his side some hope.

This is quite funny on many levels.

Bill emails: “Thanks, as ever, for your brilliantly informative and entertaining commentary, and company.

“What a back four for the Arsenal! Long time since we’ve had a better one, if ever? If that front three can click (big if), then we’re in for a showdown. If Liverpool drop significant points in their next two toughish games, all the more so.

“And what has Moyes put in the drinking water at Everton?”

Have United stopped giving their players water to save money?

And that is all the team news. The most striking thing? Mikel Merino starts as the Arsenal No 9 after his two-goal heroics at Leicester.

Get your fill of things to look out for. I wrote a lot of them.

Over at Goodison Park, the TV cameras have just shown a very morose Amorim. He does not look happy at all.

And while we are waiting for the 3pms, do feel to join Barry Glendenning to find out if Manchester United can get any worse at Everton.

Naturally, you all want to read out Murillo. Thankfully, I have done some writing about the man.

Prime yourself for today’s action with some hot preview material.

Preamble

Today we are being treated to five Saturday 3pm kick-offs in the Premier League. Arsenal are the highest-ranked team in action this afternoon and a win over West Ham would close the gap on Liverpool, who face Manchester City tomorrow. The striker-less Gunners toiled to victory at Leicester last week and Graham Potter might think he can stifle Mikel Arteta’s side.

Bournemouth could end the day in the top four with victory over Wolves, who are eager to move away from the relegation zone. Fellow battlers Southampton and Ipswich face difficult home games against Brighton and Tottenham, respectively. If the Saints lose, they might as well pack their bags and jump on the plane for their summer holidays. Ipswich repeatedly show signs of life and considering how unpredictable Tottenham are, they will be confident of securing a double over Ange Postecoglou’s men.

Finally, we have a London derby where Fulham host Crystal Palace. Marco Silva’s side have secured back-to-back wins over Newcastle and Nottingham Forest, and have only lost twice in their past 13 matches, so will fancy their chances at Craven Cottage today. A win would put them seventh and making their European dream more realistic.

3pm kick-offs:

Arsenal v West Ham
Bournemouth v Wolves
Fulham v Crystal Palace
Ipswich v Tottenham
Southampton v Brighton
