Arsenal will reportedly not be able to sign Alexander Isak this summer because of Newcastle’s asking price which would set a British-record transfer fee.
The Gunners have been heavily linked with the signature of Alexander Isak who is regarded as one of the best strikers in the Premier League.
Arsenal’s lack of fire-power has put them on the back foot in the title race. They are six points off Liverpool who have a game in hand.
Recent draws with Fulham, Everton and Brighton showed why Arsenal might need to sign a striker if they are to end their two decade title-drought.
Isak meanwhile has been in stunning form with 14 goals in his last 15 games. That includes in Newcastle’s 2-0 victory at the Emirates in the Carabao Cup semi-final first-leg.
Arsenal Suffer Blow In Isak Race
The Daily Mail have reported that Arsenal won’t be able to afford Alexander Isak during the summer transfer window.
It would almost certainly take a fee in excess of the British record £115m Chelsea paid for Moises Caicedo, if Isak were to leave.
Isak is Newcastle’s top earner and has a contract with the Magpies until the end of the 2027-28 season.
The Mail claim that Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke is unlikely to sanction a move for the striker.
It’s said the focus will be on outgoings, with Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko among those who could be sold.
Thomas Partey is another player who could leave with his contract expiring this summer.
But it would likely take a significant departure for the Gunners to consider selling Isak.
Arsenal’s Lack Of Fire Power
Arsenal’s search for a striker like Alexander Isak is unsurprising given their lack of fire-power compared to title rivals Liverpool.
Kai Havertz is Arsenal’s top scorer with 12 goals in all competitions. Liverpool meanwhile have three players who have scored just as many – Mohamed Salah (21), Cody Gakpo (12) and Luis Diaz (12).
The Gunners have not been helped by injuries to Bukayo Saka – their most creative player – and young striker Ethan Nwaneri.
They have been linked to a host of other strikers including Dusan Vlahovic and Viktor Gyokeres.
