Arsenal trio in new contract talks as Edu and Mikel Arteta promise rewards for success

Arsenal plan to step up contract talks in the next few weeks with their star trio of youngsters.

Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and William Saliba have all said publicly they are happy and want to stay and negotiations are ongoing. But Gunners technical director Edu and boss Mikel Arteta also want to reward their players for their impressive start to the season and underline their ambition for the future.

England star Saka, 21, has been involved in talks with the club and his representatives for weeks and they are hopeful of agreeing a new long term deal. Saka has become one of England’s most sought after young players and will therefore also be able to command a significant rise towards being one of the club’s better earners.

Martinelli has also held discussions along with Saliba who is excelling in his first full season at Arsenal, having spent the last three years out on loan. But Arsenal will also be reassured that they have inserted options to extend on their best young players and that gives them some breathing space in negotiations.

Arsenal have made a hugely impressive start to the campaign which has been underpinned by the youngsters and they are in the luxurious position of knowing the players want to stay.

Another key player this season is Ben White who has been in terrific form despite carrying an injury which may be the reason why he missed out on the last England squad but if he can get back to full fitness then he still has a big chance for the World Cup.

Meanwhile, UEFA have issued fines to Arsenal for £4,500 after an incident involving a fan and an “invasion of the field of play” during their Europa League tie with Zurich who were also fined £12,000 for blocking of passageways and £8,500 for lighting of fireworks.
