Arsenal trial new anthem 'The Angel' at the Emirates Stadium ahead of Leeds United clash

Arsenal used Louis Dunford's 'The Angel' for the first-ever time on Sunday after it went viral on social media. The song, which has an anthem-esque tone to it, was warmly received among Arsenal supporters due to its connection to north London and the club.

Shared and loved by thousands of fans, the song became a huge talking point, meaning it didn't take long before Arsenal were urged to use it on a matchday.

Two days after being invited to the London Colney training ground, Louis Dunford's dream came true as 'The Angel' was played prior to Arsenal's clash against Leeds United.

With a packed Emirates crowd ready for a huge game, the song was played just minutes before kick-off. The main 'Arsenal forever' chorus was soon ringing out around the stadium as the squad huddled on the pitch.

Considering the song was making its debut, it was well received, and the overall reaction was positive. This will come as a welcome development to Mikel Arteta, who encouraged the club to 'push' more fan involvement moving forwards.

"I have had thousands and thousands of requests from all of our supporters to go and do something about it ('The Angel'). We want to listen to them, it's great," he said.

"Because they are bringing all of the initiatives now, we don't have to do anything, it's up to them. They feel it, they want to earn it. They do a lot of things around the stadium as well, as we all notice. So, let's give it a push. You know if that's what we want to do, and that's how we want to be seen and feel like. I think there's no better way than to go ahead and do it when you feel it."
