Arsenal transfer target Dusan Vlahovic has previously stated that it is his ‘boyhood dream’ to beat Cristiano Ronaldo amid reports Arsenal have had a bid accepted for his services.
The Serbian striker has long been on the Gunners’ transfer shortlist - football.london understanding that Edu is aiming to complete a £63m move ahead of the January deadline.
A potential switch to the Emirates Stadium has potentially taken a significant step forwards with reports from OK Calcio Mercato suggesting that the Gunners have had a €80m (£66.6m) plus bonuses offer accepted by Fiorentina for Vlahovic’s services.
Should that be true, then the Gunners would potentially be securing the signature of one of the most promising forwards in world football.
It would also give Arsenal a considerable boost for their hopes of finishing above the likes of Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United in the race for the top four.
Even before a move to the Emirates Stadium, Vlahovic admitted that it was his dream to beat a side with Cristiano Ronaldo on the teamsheet.
Speaking after Fiorentina’s 3-0 victory over Juventus in 2020 with Telegraf, the Serbian said: "There is not much to say about Cristiano Ronaldo, I think we know everything, one of the best players in history.
“It was really my boyhood dream to play against him and beat him.”
Of course, Vlahovic and Ronaldo could renew rivalries should the 21-year-old complete a switch to the Premier League.
Arsenal host the Red Devils at the Emirates Stadium in late April in what already looks like a decisive battle in the race for the Champions League places.
Mikel Arteta’s men sit three points clear of Manchester United as it stands, with the previous clash between the two finishing 2-2 after a dramatic clash at Old Trafford.
Vlahovic has already stolen a record off of Ronaldo this season having broken his record for the most Serie A goals in a calendar year.
