Arsenal’s impressive start to the Premier League season continued over the weekend as they made it four wins from four, but manager Mikel Arteta is also hoping to succeed off the pitch as the Gunners eye at least one more signing.
Top attacking target Pedro Neto has been the main focal point of Arsenal ’s transfer activity in recent times, but it has now been revealed that a move for the Wolves winger is looking ‘highly improbable’, although Youri Tielemans is ‘destined’ to join the Gunners. Elsewhere, Chelsea have entered the race to sign Wilfried Zaha.
Mirror Football takes a look at all the latest transfer stories coming out of the Emirates Stadium…
Neto move ‘highly improbable’
Arsenal have continued to try and lure the 22-year-old from Wolves in the past week but with Bruno Lage’s side wanting to keep hold of one of their star players beyond this summer, they have been reluctant to operate with the Gunners over any negotiations.
And The Athletic have now revealed that a deal is looking ‘highly improbable’ for the north London outfit, with Wolves refusing to budge on their £50million asking price for the Portuguese international, which has effectively priced Arsenal out of a deal.
Neto made his fifth appearance of the season and fourth consecutive start in the Premier League for Wolves during their 1-1 draw with Newcastle United on Sunday and, despite the arrival of Goncalo Guedes from Valencia, he still clearly remains a big part of Lage’s plans.

Tielemans ‘destined’ to join Arsenal
Arsenal’s pursuit of Tielemans may finally be about to come to an end this week as transfer deadline day looms, with the Leicester City midfielder now said to be ‘destined for a move’ to the Emirates Stadium as Arteta looks to bolster his options in the centre of the park.
That’s according to CBS reporter Josh Holland, who told Give Me Sport that Tielemans is almost certain to join Arsenal, despite late interest from Aston Villa, and that he is confident that the Gunners would fight off any potential interest from Villa Park.
However, although Tielemans may be ‘destined’ to join the Gunners, there is no guarantee that it will be this summer. The Belgian ace still has one year remaining on his contract and could well see it out before joining Arsenal in 12 months' time, according to Holland.
Chelsea enter Zaha race
It was reported last week that Arsenal may well attempt to sign long term target Zaha this month should they fail to land Neto from Wolves, and with that looking like it may well be the case, a move for the Ivory Coast international could certainly be imminent.
However, the Gunners have already received a setback in their pursuit of the Crystal Palace icon, with it now being reported by the Independent that Chelsea are considering a late bid for the forward as Thomas Tuchel looks to bring in the right person for his attack.
According to the report, Tuchel wants a focal point for his forward line but is open to signing the 29-year-old, although any official move would hamper Arsenal’s chances of landing yet another of their forward targets and could see them forced into finding another alternative.
