Arsenal transfer round-up: Gunners 'prepare' Tielemans bid but face nightmare scenario

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is keen to add at least one more new face to his squad before the transfer window slams shut at the end of this month.

The Gunners have made some big signings this summer with the arrivals of Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Fabio Vieira particularly pleasing the Gunners' fanbase. Jesus has been scoring goals for fun in pre-season and there is plenty of optimism ahead of the new campaign, which for Arsenal kicks off against Crystal Palace on Friday night under the lights at Selhurst Park.

Yet with just a few weeks remaining to get any further deals over the line, Arteta and Arsenal's recruitment team will no doubt be working hard behind the scenes to add that missing ingredient to their squad. Here are the latests Arsenal rumours and gossip.

Gunners 'prepare' Tielemans bid

Leicester midfielder Youri Tielemans has been heavily linked with a switch to Arsenal - and it appears the Gunners could now be ready to lodge an official bid.

Football London report Arsenal were hoping to offload several players before making a move for the Belgian. But with Bernd Leno having departed for Fulham, and Hector Bellerin, Pablo Mari and Lucas Torreira all nearing the exit door, the Gunners could now have the funds at their disposal to swoop.

The Sun go one further, claiming Arsenal's move for Tielemans is 'imminent'. Tielemans' contract has just a year left to run and it is thought he can be acquired at a club price amid Leicester's financial difficulties.

Arteta makes transfer promise

Gunners boss Arteta insists there is still plenty of time to get more signings through the door at The Emirates as the clock ticks down towards deadline.

The Spaniard has already admitted his hopes to get some more business done this month and revealed the club's recruitment team are going flat out to make it a reality.

"We are really active, as you can see with [the] ins and outs. Everything is still open; it's a long window," Arteta said.

"A lot happens. It's incredible how much business the club has already done. It shows how competitive the season will be. It's not going to stop. Some players will have the need to leave, some others to move. Everything is still open."

Aubameyang linked with return

It was only eight months ago that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang swapped the bright lights of London for the sandy beaches of Barcelona - but he could well be coming back.

Arsenal were forced to cut their losses on their former captain when they terminated his contract so he could complete a switch to Camp Nou. Since then he has rediscovered his shooting boots - but Barca's summer transfer business has remarkably put his place under threat.

Now the Telegraph claim Chelsea are weighing up a move for the Gabon international amid Barca's tricky financial situation in what would be a nightmare scenario for Arsenal if their old skipper moved to their rivals across town.
