Arsenal transfer news: Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s agent slams ‘shameful’ claims amid summer speculation

The agent of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has taken aim at “shameful” claims made about the midfielder ahead of another summer of transfer speculation.

Some Lazio fans and pundits have criticised the Serbian in recent weeks amid links to Arsenal and Manchester United, while the likes of Real Madrid, Newcastle and Juventus have also been touted.

But Mateja Kezman, the former Chelsea striker now serving as Milinkovic-Savic’s agent, has insisted that his future will not be discussed until the end of the season.

“We’ve spoken many times with the president, deciding that we’ll discuss everything at the end of the season, especially now that Lazio need peace,” Kezman told Il Corriere dello Sport, via Football Italia.

“That’s why everyone at Lazio must remain united. Four games remain, and I am sure they will play in the Champions League next season.”

Three defeats in four games have left the Italian club at risk of missing out on a top-four finish, with Milinkovic-Savic not enjoying his best form of late.

“Somebody is using harsh words to discuss Milinkovic and his form - they are enemies of Lazio,” he stated. “It’s shameful that somebody is trying to cause problems and weaken the team.

“It’s true that Sergej is not at his best moment, but over the last eight years, he has never been below his level. He may have had some bad weeks, but at the end of the day, he’s just a man who can have highs and lows also in his private life.

“He wants to help the club reach a fantastic target like the Champions League. Nobody can question his commitment, his loyalty and his love for Lazio. It is unpleasant to hear stories from people I mentioned earlier about his contract and future daily.”
