Arsenal transfer news: 'Next Pedri' targeted as Mykhaylo Mudryk's agent speaks out

Your morning Arsenal transfer round-up on Saturday, January 7.

New Pedri targeted

According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal are interested in Las Palmas youngster Alberto Moleiro, who has been compared to Barcelona starlet Pedri in recent times. The talented 19-year-old has become a mainstay in the La Liga side's first-team this season, featuring 22 across all competitions this term - scoring five times in the process.

Speaking about Moleiro, former Las Palmas boss Pepe Mel told Goal : "Pedri is a player who dictates the tempo of the game and ensures that possession is not lost. On the other hand, Moleiro always looks to get forward and engage the opposition's defence.

"Moleiro creates the chances, but Pedri is in charge of starting the moves off."

Mudryk latest

The agent of Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk, Alexey Alekhin, has spoken out about his client's future amid links to both Arsenal and Chelsea. The 22-year-old has made it no secret of his admiration for Mikel Arteta's side, consistently admitting that he is a huge fan of the Gunners.

However, Alekhin has played down any chatter of him leaving Shakhtar, making it clear that the Ukrainian club holds all cards at this moment in time. Speaking to Sport Arena, he said: “Mudryk is a Shakhtar player and the decision on his transfer will be made by the board of the club.

"Mykhaylo is now preparing to go with Shakhtar to the training camp."

Felix pursuit

Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix continues to be linked with a move to the Premier League and The Telegraph have now reported that Arsenal are stepping up their pursuit of the Portuguese international, who appears to be available to sign on loan during the January transfer window.

The La Liga giants are said to be demanding a substantial loan fee for Felix, who has struggled to fulfil his potential since joining Diego Simeone's side for a club-record £113 million back in the summer of 2019. The aforementioned report also claims that the size of this loan fee will determine whether or not the 23-year-old joins Mikel Arteta and Co at the Emirates Stadium in this window.

Felix has netted 34 goals in 130 appearances during his time in the Spanish capital.
