Arsenal transfer news: Marco Asensio interest, Cody Gakpo hint, Victor Osimhen decision made

Arsenal’s current focus is dedicated to the club’s task to return to the Champions League next term. The Gunners are embroiled in a battle alongside London rivals Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham, along with Manchester United, to earn a place in the top four.

Whilst the focus will firmly be on that, it appears that Mikel Arteta and Edu are already allowing one eye to be cast slightly further forwards to the upcoming summer transfer window. Every year, Arsenal are linked to a number of names throughout European and world football.

With that being said, football.london has taken a look at the latest transfer rumours emanating out of the Emirates Stadium.

Agent confirms Asensio transfer interest

One player who has regularly been linked with a switch to north London is Real Madrid winger Marco Asensio. The Spanish winger sees his contract expire at the end of next season and could well be on the move. His representatives have said that both Arsenal and AC Milan are chasing his services ahead of the summer window.

As quoted by SportMediaSet, they said: “We are proud of Milan’s interest. The Rossoneri are an option even if there are offers from a couple of English clubs, including Arsenal. We are ready to evaluate every option.”

Gakpo hints at Arsenal affection

Another forward player who is apparently on Arsenal’s transfer shortlist is PSV Eindhoven wideman Cody Gakpo. The youngster has seemingly stolen the Gunners’ attentions due to his brilliant performances in the Eredivisie and in Europe.

He has hinted that a switch to north London could be on the cards in the future. The 22-year-old said: “Everybody wants to play one time in the Prem. I don’t favour one team but I like Arsenal a lot. I looked up to [Thierry] Henry when I was younger because he was a tall guy who played on the wing.”

Osimhen eyes Manchester United move

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen also appears to be a player that Arsenal admire but their efforts to sign him might have taken a considerable blow. According to Corriere dello Sport, a switch to Manchester United could be the priority.

Journalist Antonio Giordano said: “Meanwhile, Arsenal never stopped following him and, surprisingly, Manchester United. In the personal imagination of a 23-year-old player, United are a temptation and if the Red Devils reach certain figures, history teaches us those certain operations must be done.”
