Arsenal transfer news: Man United enter transfer battle as Edu receives key Joao Felix response

Here is your Arsenal transfer roundup on Monday, January 10.

Depay rivalry

Despite Arsenal's previous interest in Depay, it has now emerged that Edu could also face competition from Manchester United. According to the Telegraph, along with Wout Weghorst, the Red Devils are considering adding Depay as a low-cost option in attack during the January transfer window.

The former PSV forward has fallen out of favour at Camp Nou since Xavi took control of the club, and with Robert Lewandowski joining it has pushed him further down the pecking order, meaning Edu can pounce on a deal for Depay.

Despite Jesus' arrival, Edu still needs to add more firepower to Arteta’s options in the upcoming transfer windows. Joao Felix has been linked to the club, but Atletico Madrid’s president provided an update on Felix’s transfer situation. Enrique Cerezo said: "In life there’s nothing impossible but it’s normal for Joao Felix to stay at Atletico Madrid."

Felix admission

According to British journalist Duncan Castles, Atletico Madrid are prepared to let Felix join an English Premier League club on loan next month. The La Liga club are reportedly asking for an £8million loan fee, plus the player’s salary to be paid in full, while there would be no contractual option to buy, with Arsenal quoted as being one of the interested parties.

However, this came before Atletico Madrid’s president provided an update on Felix’s transfer situation. Arteta's need for depth in attack is clear. Eddie Nketiah and Jesus will need more goal support from different sources in the team.

Tielemans blow

According to French news outlet L'Equipe, Leicester had made a first offer for Angers star Azzedine Ounahi. The World Cup performances of the Moroccan midfielder had reportedly persuaded Leicester to make a move.

This was a major boost for Arsenal because Tielemans and Ounahi play in the same position, which means Leicester have identified Ounahi as their replacement if Tielemans is to join Arsenal.

But, this process is now in doubt as Serie A Napoli have offered a €19million (£17millon) total package deal to Angers to sign Ounahi in the January transfer window, meaning Leicester could miss out on Tielemans’ replacement.
