Arsenal transfer news: Edu targets Eden Hazard as Newcastle attempt Gunners transfer hijack

Here is your Arsenal transfer roundup on Tuesday, January 10.

Zaha blow

According to the Daily Mail, Zaha could reject new contract talks and leave Crystal Palace in the upcoming transfer window. The winger is reportedly looking for a move to a top-six club.

But, this has since been rebuffed by the Athletic’s David Ornstein as it has now been reported that Zaha is set to stay at Crystal Palace until at least the end of the season. He has no intentions of leaving this month.

This blow for Arsenal follows after it emerged that Chelsea had agreed a deal with Gunners’ target Joao Felix. It now seems that Edu will have go full throttle to sign Mykhaylo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donestk in order to strengthen Mikel Arteta’s side in this transfer window.

Newcastle 'steal' Arsenal's Mudryk alternative

According to German news outlet Bild, Newcastle are also considering a move to sign Diaby in the January transfer window. The Magpies are having an exceptional season and securing the Frenchman would give the Premier League side a major boost.

Links to Newcastle comes after Fabrizio Romano, via Caught Offside, claimed that Diaby has been on Edu and Arteta's list since missing out on Raphinha in the summer transfer window. Diaby had his best campaign to date last season, grabbing 13 goals and 12 assists for Leverkusen in 32 Bundesliga games.

Writing in his column for CaughtOffside, Romano says Arsenal manager Arteta was a big fan of Pedro Neto as an alternative, though a deal was difficult. In the summer Wolves held out for £50million for the Portugal international.

Arsenal in for Hazard

Another reported option for the Gunners is Eden Hazard from Real Madrid. Arsenal are interested in signing Eden Hazard during the January transfer window, and have even made contact with Real Madrid about a potential move this month, according to a report from Media Foot.

Arsenal emerged as a surprising loan destination for Hazard previously. According to Foot Mercato, the Gunners had held talks with Real Madrid over a potential loan deal for the winger's services this summer.

Despite his affinity to Chelsea, Hazard has even previously admitted that he was an admirer of Arsenal growing up: "When I was little, the team I watched the most was the French national team. For me, the players I looked up to were Zinedine Zidane and Thierry Henry."
