Arsenal transfer news: Chelsea plot Mykhaylo Mudryk hijack as Edu handed Youri Tielemans blow

Your morning Arsenal transfer round-up on Wednesday, January 4.

Chelsea plot Mykhaylo Mudryk transfer hijack

According to The Sun, Chelsea are set to make a last ditch attempt to sign the Ukraine international ahead of Arsenal with Shakhtar Donetsk chief Darijo Srna set to travel to London this week. The Ukrainian club have publicly demanded a fee close to £85million, with the Gunners' latest offer of £62million falling well below their asking price.

The report claims that Arsenal have already agreed personal terms over a five-year deal, worth around £120,000-per-week, with the player himself having dropped huge hints that he wants to move to the Emirates Stadium. Chelsea could beat their rivals to a deal should they agree to meet the asking price with a bid in the region of £60million, with another £20million included in add-ons.

The Blues are said to be pursuing a deal for Argentina World Cup hero and Benfica star Enzo Fernandez in a deal worth in excess of £100million. Boehly spent close to £300million in the summer transfer window and now looks set to flex Chelsea's financial power once again with the west London outfit in need of reinforcements to secure a top four spot come the end of the season.

Arsenal have made signing Mudryk a priority in the January transfer window. Should negotiations break down with the Ukrainian outfit, Edu will need to have a back-up plan in place to ensure Arteta has a squad capable of continuing their title challenge.

According to Estadio Deportivo, Arsenal may look to pursue a deal for Barcelona star Ferran Torres should they fail to secure a deal for Mudryk.

Torres has failed to establish himself as a first team regular at the Camp Nou since arriving from City a year ago. Given Barca's financial difficulties, they are said to be open to selling the Spanish forward.

Arsenal handed new Youri Tielemans transfer stance

Arsenal have been handed a fresh stance on a transfer for Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans as the January window opens. The Gunners have long been linked with a switch for the Belgium international, with reports claiming personal terms were previously agreed, but a deal has never been made to the Foxes.

LeicesterLive have reported that the Midlands-based side won't be selling the 25-year-old in January, with hopes of convincing him to stay on a new contract. It echoes the sentiment of manager Brendan Rodgers, who recently said: "I think it's one where we want to do everything we can to convince him to stay.

"He's in a really good place, though obviously it was disappointing at the World Cup for him and his country. He's come back and looks really happy to come back. He's a wonderful player for us."
