Arsenal training footage confirms Ben White's status for West Ham as wonderkid is called up

Arsenal have released more footage from London Colney ahead of Sunday's Premier League clash against West Ham United.

At the beginning of the week during an open training session, there was mixed news for Gunners manager Mikel Arteta with Eddie Nketiah making his long-awaited return after over a month on the sidelines with an ankle injury. However, there was no sign of William Saliba once again.

It has since been revealed that the former will be available for selection at the London Stadium, but the game comes too soon for the Frenchman to make his first appearance since limping out of the Europa League tie against Sporting CP last month as Arsenal, understandably, refuse to take any chances with his back injury.

"William [Saliba] is still not available. He’s progressing well and we’re hopeful that we'll have him available in the next few weeks," Arteta confirmed during his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon. "We'll have to see. Eddie is back. He’s fully fit now and he’s back.

"He's not far off starting to do that [Saliba being back on grass]. Obviously, we need to be cautious because of the injury but he’s evolving well."

Whilst not being able to call upon Saliba in east London will be a blow for Arteta, he can take comfort from the fact that Rob Holding, who has done fairly well in the France international's absence, has fond memories of this facing West Ham away from home having scored in the corresponding fixture last season.

And preparations for the big game were finalised on Saturday with the Spaniard and his coaching staff putting the Arsenal first-team squad - and a few youngsters - through their paces during the final session and below is what football.london noticed from the footage that has been released by the club's photographer.

White returns

As reported by Sky Sports, Tuesday's open training session at London Colney saw both Ben White and Oleksandr Zinchenko miss out. However, there was no need for any panic as Arsenal provided clarity by stating the pair were working inside rather than not being outside with the rest of their teammates due to injury.

And on Saturday, the official Arsenal Twitter account uploaded a series of images - one of which included White training outside with the ball at his feet and he looks set to start at right-back against West Ham United in the hope of delivering a much-improved performance.

Trossard all smiles

Via Arsenal's Instagram account, Leandro Trossard was in a very relaxed mood ahead of the West Ham game. Spotted smiling during the session, the Belgium international has been in fine form since arriving from Brighton in January and will be pushing for a return to the starting line-up having been a substitute at Anfield.

Walters involved

Highly-rated youngster Reuell Walters has certainly benefitted from Takehiro Tomiyasu being ruled out for the rest of the season and Saliba being sidelined with a back injury as he's made the Arsenal matchday squad against Crystal Palace, Leeds United and Liverpool in recent weeks.

And despite not being called upon by Arteta, the teenager continues to take part in first-team training and this was the case on Saturday as he got to grips with Gabriel Jesus.
