Arsenal told what they must do to complete transfer for £84million-rated striker this summer

Arsenal's search for a top-class striker looks set to dominate the summer transfer window.

The Gunners spent £140million last summer, more than any other Premier League club and they look set to splash the cash again at the end of the current campaign. Mikel Arteta allowed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to join La Liga giants Barcelona whilst both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are into the final three months of their contracts with the club.

football.london understands that both Gabriel Jesus and Tammy Abraham are on the club's shortlist, with technical director Edu even holding talks with the former's representatives in recent months. Another name that has been heavily linked is Napoli frontman Victor Osimhen.

Osimhen has enjoyed an extremely productive season with the Serie A side, netting 16 goals in 28 outings across all competitions and Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport, via GIFN, have reported that the player is eyeing a move to the Premier League this summer. The report claims that the Nigerian international would be keen to play for Arsenal next term but only if they can secure a place in next season's UEFA Champions League.

NapoliGazzetta dello Sport, via Sport Witness have previously suggested that Napoli will demand £84million for the 23-year-old, who has previously admitted that he turned down an approach from the Gunners during Arsene Wenger's days as manager. Speaking to the Independent back in 2020, Osimhen said: “I spoke with Arsene Wenger after the tournament (Under-17 World Cup) ended and he wanted me to come to Arsenal

“I had a lot of options. Barcelona; Inter Milan; Atletico Madrid; Juventus and the rest. Arsenal was a good option but it wasn’t the best at the time. I wanted to start playing as soon as I turned 18.

"I wanted to go to a place where I had time to invest in my game and improve physically. Wolfsburg showed me that possibility.

"Of course, one day I’d like to play for a big club in England... my priority is to play a lot of games. Signing for a big club and being on the bench is not exciting for me."
