Former Arsenal defender Johan Djourou has urged his old side to try and sign Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby during the summer transfer window.
The north Londoners have been linked with a move for Diaby in recent times, with the Evening Standard reporting last month that he could command a fee up to five times the £13 million Leverkusen spent on him four years ago (£65 million). The French international enjoyed a stellar 2022/23 campaign, netting 14 goals and providing a further ten assists across all competitions - numbers that read even more impressive when you consider that the talented winger is still just 23 years-old.
Now, ex-Gunners centre-back Djourou has advised Mikel Arteta and Co to try and sign the Leverkusen starlet so other Arsenal players don't get too comfortable. "For me, competition is the be-all and end-all, so I would welcome a new arrival in that position", Djourou told mybettingsites when asked about Arteta's interest in Diaby.

"Just look at Manchester City: At the moment, top players like Phil Foden or Riyad Mahrez are always on the bench, while Jack Grealish is an integral part of the starting eleven because he performs really well. A well-balanced squad is eminently important to strengthen the cohesion and to make sure that every player questions himself again and again.
"Arsenal need a bit more quality and experience so that nobody feels too comfortable."
