Newcastle United expert Luke Edwards of The Telegraph has already explained how Arsenal missed out on the chance to sign Bruno Guimaraes. The 24-year-old was heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium ahead of the January window, though instead opted for St. James' Park.
The Brazil international has featured 15 times in the Premier League for the Magpies since penning a four-and-a-half-year deal, steering Eddie Howe's side clear of a relegation scrap. He's impressed since touching down in Tyneside, and he'll undoubtedly be keen to continue in the same vein of form in Newcastle's clash with Arsenal on the penultimate day of the season.
According to Edwards, Arsenal didn't have sufficient funding to table an offer for the tough-tackling midfielder. Now, months later, Stuttgart have agreed to buy Dinos Mavropanos, who is valued at around £8.5m, regardless of their possible relegation, football.london understand.

Stuttgart paid a €500,000 (£415,000) loan fee for Mavropanos and they have an obligation to buy him for €3million (£2.5million) next summer. While it may be a diminutive fee, had Arsenal been more astute with their business, the Gunners could've armed themselves with the finances to complete a deal for Guimaraes.
In The Telegraph, Edwards explained how the Magpies' backing from new owners proved pivotal in winning the Brazilian's signature. He wrote: "Bruno’s advisors were aware of interest from the likes of Arsenal and Juventus and there had been informal conversations.
"But they, like all his other suitors, did not have the money to spend in January. Newcastle did. This was crucial.
"Everyone else wanted to wait until the summer. When Newcastle pushed hard enough on the door, it opened. It was too much to turn down and personal terms were also swiftly thrashed."
Newcastle currently find themselves 14th in the league table, an impressive feat considering they were rooted to the bottom of the pile just a couple of months ago. Arsenal have also enjoyed a promising few months and are now fifth in the current standings, with a game in hand over fourth-placed Tottenham.
