Arsenal told how to beat Chelsea, Aston Villa and Man Utd in Joao Felix January transfer battle

Joao Felix could leave Atletico Madrid in the January transfer window with Arsenal, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Manchester United all interested in acquiring his services. The 23-year-old impressed with Portugal at the World Cup and given his future in Spain is unclear, a number of Premier League clubs are hopeful of signing him.

After scoring in Portugal's 3-2 win over Ghana in the group stages, Felix was at the heart of everything good his nation did in their last-16 clash with Switzerland, setting up two goals in the 6-1 victory. Felix seems to thrive in the Portugal team and the man himself has indicated that he's currently not enjoying his football in Spain.

“The way of playing with Portugal and then at the club is different. When the conditions are favourable, things go better”, he told Sport Tv.

Atletico have also not been shy when discussing the future of Felix, with CEO Gil Marin handing an update on his future which was certainly a boost for a number of interested clubs. Marin said: “Joao Felix has top level but because of his relationship with Simeone and game time… we feel that makes sense to consider potential bids to sell him."

Bayern Munich recently pulled out of the race to sign Felix handing a boost to the Premier League clubs involved and with Felix 'not attracted' to Aston Villa and the city of Birmingham, as per Marca, Arsenal are in the lead to sign Felix.

Fabrizio Romano reports otherwise though in his Daily Briefing for CaughtOffside, with the player's agent Jorge Mendes speaking to numerous clubs including Chelsea and Manchester United, however Arsenal have been told how they can secure his services.

“Despite some reports about Arsenal moving into a strong position, my understanding is that there are no favourites at this stage for Joao Felix,” Romano said.

"His agent is speaking to many clubs, it’s the moment of meetings and discussions but nothing is advanced yet with Atletico or with the player.

“I think Joao Felix would be a fantastic signing for Arsenal as for any other club in the world, but he has to play. Regular starter in every single game, otherwise it makes no sense.”

Given the current attacking quartet Arsenal have, a regular spot for Felix would be difficult to guarantee, although the injury to Gabriel Jesus could be a determining factor for both the Gunners to push for Felix and the Portuguese forward to be interested in an Emirates Stadium move.
